yep. This can also be a hassle if your car is AMERICAN or CANADIAN verison.
For example, I got my car used, with a thousand or so miles on it. We only had a valet key that came with the car. So we called up Honda (Honda Canada, I live in Vancouver) and asked how we could get two keys made.
They replied that because the car was made for the US market (sold in TX originally) that they could not TOUCH the keyless entry programming for the car. Luckily enough I live in Vancouver and Seattle was only about 2-3 hours drive south, but for someone else who might encounter this problem I have alot of sympathy for you.
The service manager informed me that Honda Canada and American Honda DO NOT share programming codes and will not co-operate with each other on this matter. Canadian dealers CANNOT program American cars and vice-versa. Ironically my 06 Civic EX Coupe was BUILT AND ASSEMBLED IN CANADA but made for the American market. So this could be an improvement for Honda in the future, something to work on. Keys cost me $100 for two sets and $87 for labour (pretty steep I thought, but nothing I can do about it)
