Thumbs down Brought My Car in for 3rd gear getting run around.

So I brought my Si in for the 3rd gear grind today. Turns out with my incredable luck my factory warrenty is out by 150miles. I did purchase an extended warrenty. They told me I have to authorise them a tear down of the transmission and that they would send a rep out to look at parts of trans.
They the told me that If the Rep didn't think the trans needed the repair that I would have to pay for the tear down. I got on the phone with american honda and they basicly said that they can't do anything for me unless the dealership can duplicate the problem....its such BS they know there is a problem with the transmission and I am in the vin range for the TSB and they won't do anything for me. WTF!!!

What i think is ridiculous is there is a know problem for this VIN range and it's not escalated to the level of a recall, 100% free fix with corrected parts.

hmmm...

Don't we get 5% extension of our warranty due to the odometer settlement from Honda? Go shove that in their face.

if your 3rd gear is grinding, they will find the 3rd gear set messed up. let them take it apart they will see the damage and fix it. how long has 3rd been grinding? mine was like that for 3000 miles and they immediately noticed damage.

I even said that I knew about the TSB...when I called american honda they pretended that it didn't exist. When I told them the TSB Number and vehicles effected they were silent on the other end.....I hate when they don't admit to a problem. I even told the dealer I was aware of the TSB...

as of right now they can't duplicate it they are holding the car till 2 morrow....ugh...

You are still under factory warranty for the powertrain. Powertrain is covered for 5 years, 60K miles. The transmission falls under the powertrain warranty. Don't let your dealer throw you around, you are still under warranty for this issue.

I would MAKE them fix it, like the last person said. Powertrain warranty is 5 year/60k. After getting the car back, I would blast them in your local newspaper.

Just spoke with American Honda they said that the dealer cannot charge me for tear down and re-build due to the warrenty... so if they are able to duplicate the problem then they have to fix it...so yes now I should probalby go to them and ask to go for a ride with the tech...
