As mentioned... I have witnessed this on at least 3 other 08+ Si's with the same result. the only video i have is this, which you can tell i do a burnout after getting the tires wet. you cannot see the 'TPMS' light because of the angle that the camera was at, but i was using drag radials that do NOT have TPMS sensors in them. Note at about 20sec in the video where i start to do my burnout and you can clearly tell that VSA is not engaging edit: correction... i had my 18" summer wheels on in that video. not my drag radials... but those dont have TPMS sensors either.

how convenient that we can't see the TPMS light...ha! just kiddin...now yes, i can peel out a little bit with the VSA on, but no full on burn out of course. the only thing i can think of why you can peel out longer than me and others is b/c you are supercharged and can overcome the VSA better...
thanks for the vid btw! |

also, when VSA is attempting to intervene, the light blinks and it also (if i remember correctly) makes a beeping sound

youre right... the beeping is in my vid, and its from the e-brake being up while I burn out. Good catch.

Someone at Honda should be smacked for this system. WTF do people who drive up North and need snow tires for a few months do? Some other vehicle brands have an auto learning type of TPMS that checks for signals from other sensors on the same freq, thereby allowing owners to swap back and forth between wheels.

I'd also love to be able to read temperature and pressure from my sensors but Honda installed such a bare bones TPMS that we really can't do much. |

Ok guys back on the TPMS. I have an 08 civic ex. Damn this tire pressure monitoring system. Here my story, Ill try to make it short. Bought a new civic, Put these cool looking caps on the valve stems. Wanted to rotate tires. Realized these caps fused themselves to them valve stems. Tried to get one of them off. Broke the stem including the sensor. TPMS goes on and stays on. Accidentally broke one of the other pressure monitors also. Got a local tire guy to get off the other caps two caps without harming the pressure monitors/ stems. And had this same guys replace the two monitors I had busted. So now Im thinking now all he has to do is reset the system and that dang TPMS lite will go off.
Then I find out that he cant do it. Call the Honda dealership, and they say it will cost 100-150 per tire to recalibrate the system. Here's the thing 5 dollar caps just screwed me. Already wasted 80 bucks on two new monitors and the result is that damn lite is still on. Does anybody know how to shut off this system. Cause Honestly I don't need it. If not does doesn't anybody know the cheapest way to get that lite to shut without affecting anything else on the car? If not should it only be only a 100 dollars if I tell the dealer which two tires I replaced the monitors on? Thank you to anyone who has the patience to read this. |

$100-150 per tire!? Thats insane... it does NOT take them that much time. But sadly, your only options are to drive with the 'TPMS' light on, get the stealership to reprogram the new ones ... or you could be the guinea pig and tear apart your dash to remove the bulb from the gauge cluster.
