civic actin up yo

Hey, so I've noticed that sometimes when accelerating from 2k to 3k rpms, somewhere in between there the car will fall on it's face. It seems as though the fuel is being cut off for a split second.

This doesn't happen every time, but enough to wonder WTF?!

I have an 08 ex manual with 2xxx miles.

Is this a common problem? or what. I'm probably just worrying too much.

I doubt this is happening when you punch it, just when normally accelerating right?

It's i-vtec kicking in most likely. If you drive it lightly without much load on the engine, aka normal accelerating through town and such, i-vtec will be on between 1500 and 3500 rpms. It's kind of an economy mode cam lobe. it opens less intake valves.
