agressive automatic transmission?
I just got a 2007 EX sedan auto last week and notice that when it switches gears, it loves to really jump into it and hit about 3-3.5k RPM.
I can be going 30MPH and just oh so barely give it gas and it will immediately jump to 3000 RPMS. I then let off the gas and it drops back down to normal, 2k or so. I wouldn't mind it if I was really giving it gas and needed the extra kick, but just cruising in rush hour on the way to work and having it kick like that every single time is getting annoying. I'm coming from a 1999 Camry and so far, that rid was much smoother. Is this normal and I should just get use to it? |

Its normal, the Drive By Wire electronic throttle, coupled with the cars "sporty" nature (the engines, both Si and R18 seem to have no problem with pep) of the engine, makes driving an automatic civic somewhat quirky. You will get used to it and smooth it out without even thinking about it.
FWIW, my R18 A/T likes to Shift from 1st to 3rd and skip second automatically, then shift back down to second...but this only happens if i dont give it enough gas. it feels almost as if the tranny gets "confused". |

Thats Mr.Bart to you!

if you drive the Si and the NON-Si versions you will note that the sportiness has been taken away... and the sedan with the r18 is outright dangerous
lol...

I love it! I have an '07 LX sedan with an R18 engine and A/T and hit the gas on green and especially if I'm the first one at a light, next thing I know I'm at 4K RPM and flying at 60 mph or so.

Sorry to tell u but that only applies to the Si, the R18 models do not have the drive by wire feature. Sounds a little bit like your transmission is slipping. Its difficult to diagnose over the internet, but if your rpm's are going up and the car isnt going much faster, you could have a transmission problem, or possibly your ratios are wrong, i suggest taking it somewhere, it should be covered by warranty still. |
