I believe it may be either the dbw or clutch issue. If it is mostly in first gear, it is likely excess clutch hydraulic fluid. Ask your dealer if there is a TSB about reducing the hydraulic fluid in the clutch.
As a work around try experimenting when you get the bog: 1. You have been holding down the clutch a while at the light or 2. Just pushed it in. I may be wrong here because this info came casually via a friend, no first hand knowledge of it. I have an AT and no bogging, only slushing... |

welcome to the world of electronic cars. the lag you speak of is most likely part of the fuel economy program making sure you want to go before really going.

My car has had this since new as well. It may be partially lag in the electronic throttle but I've thought for a while that it's related to how the R18's VTEC setup works.
Technical Overview of Honda's new R18 i-VTEC Implementation Note that the "i" in i-VTEC means "intelligent" and refers in this case to the fact that which cam profile is used depends on more than just engine speed (RPM). Between approx 1500 and 3500 RPM the ECU can dictate that either the fuel economy CAM profile be used or the power profile (i.e. VTEC "on" and "off" respectively). Try the following: In first or second gear, with minimal pedal pressure, slowly bring engine speed up to ~2500 RPM. Now floor it. Notice the hesitation. Now do the same, but give it plenty of throttle (drive "harder") to get the engine speed up to 2500 RPM. Quickly let off the pedal a bit and then give it a bit more gas and see if the hesitation is still there. My guess is it's not. I think that the hesitation occurs when easy driving has caused the ECU to turn VTEC "on" (FE mode) and then a demand for more power causes it to switch off (power mode). Maybe I'm wrong but when I started thinking about it in these terms and driving accordingly the hesitation stopped bothering me so much. |

My 09 Dx MT does it too, and this hesitation really takes the fun out of driving it! Like I've said before the DBW system really sucks big time! Other manufacturers don't have this problem. Honda can and should do better than this...
