need help picking the right synthetic for my R18.

Hi

I live in a hot place namely Saudi Arabia-avg daytime temps are between 35-40 degres c.

I do a lot of short trips & heavy traffic driving, but occasionally I do travel(long cruise distances)-so I need a high quality synthetic for my precious.

The only synthetics available here are:

Mobil 1 0w-40(the one I am currently using)-It has API SL donut-but says it meets api SM.I am very happy with it & the SIGNIFICANT hp improvement I got over factory fills-It feels like a different car.But not very happy with the mpg.

Fuchs API SM 5w-30(no API donut at all)

Castrol SLX 0w-30(Havent seen the quart yet)

Castrol SLX 0w-40 ("")

PS;I am not to sure bout crappy castrols...what ya think?

Am I using too heavy a weight for the R18? & should I switch to something different?

Rik

0 weight oil? is that what you are running now? i was at one point trying to figure out if it was worth running 0w i had heard you can get better mileage that way.

Mobil 1 of course com on now what kind of question is this? just kidding i understand but i would still go with Mobil 1 why? Nasa uses Mobil One oil so do many Formula 1 Teams as well as world rally teams. So basically buy it for its motorsport heritage

@Chase-I am on the east coast? What are you doing in Iraq witht he war going on????
@K20-The oil that honda uses is 15w-40 API SJ >.< I am not letting that goo anywhere near my precious AGAIn-especially since I got a huge improvement over it from mobil1
@eth-Yeh I am running supersyn mobil1 0w-40.
@Sky-I think I'll just stick with it-but having fears if its too heavy-but if someone can confirm what I read about mobil's oils being on the lighter end of the viscosity spectrum??

What in the world are you talking about? An oil factory?

The only downside to synthetic oil is the cost. It lubricates, cleans and withstands temperature extremes better than any dino oil can.
