3rd Brake Light Rattle...Quick fix: Peel & Seal or foam?

I plan to get some deadener toward the end of August and deaden my front 2 doors and whole trunk area. I could afford it now, but I don't have the time until I get a break from my job/school. Meanwhile, I have an obnoxious rattle in my trunk tray area near my 3rd brake light that all of us have/had. I was thinking about buying a small supply of Peel & Seal just to slap over the area that is rattling on the inside of the trunk. However, I can also get some home insulation stuff (crate foam, pink panther insulation, etc) for free (my fiance's dad's a contractor). So I thought I might give one of the two a try, or both, just as a quick fix until I have time to really deaden my car. Is there one that might be more productive than the other? I've heard about peel & seal not being good when applied upside down? I'm about to head over there in an hour, so some quick responses would be appreciated.

I don't and haven't had any rattling issues what so ever.
