Honda Dealer found problem with rough idle

I put up a past thread about my 4dr EX sedan having rough idle(sounded like a sputter and loose valve) at stop lights, etc. After reading many posts, it seems like i would be in the same boat as most-dealer would say no problem found.

Well, the good folks at my Honda Dealer found a so called "auto tensioner"(mech said premature failure on this part) which had to be ordered and shipped overnight. Today is Friday and will get my car back Monday and will update you on the results.

Just check your VIN. The first character will tell you where it came from:

J = Japan
1 = USA
2 = Canada

Doesn't matter much.

Problems I had with mine in the 10 months and 15,000 miles I owned it:
-Bad strut
-Front bumper rattle (dealer never did fix this)
-front drivers side window fell out of the track
-bad stablity on the high way at 80 MPH
-various interior parts fell off

Also, the tranny could not maintain top gear on the highway at 70 MPH. When going up hill (not a mountain or anything steep like that) it had to down shift to 4th gear. I know this isn't a big deal to some, but for me, it's an annoyance to know Honda put the this huge tall gear for 5th gear just so they would get better MPG with the EPA and get them selves a tax break.

Finally, the car was hydroplaining because of the crappy tires they put on it. Then I had one explode, and come completely off the rim while going 75 MPH on the highway.

This was a J-vin car.

So I think the over all quality of parts has gone down, and regradless of where it was made, the parts are still made in one place.

Holy crap! Were you able to stabilize the car or how did that situation work out?

What parts fell off?

Also was it the front or rear tire that blew up. Did it take out the rim at the same time?

so, what did they replace exactly to get your car back to being "good"? Do you have the P/Ns from your write up?

OK fellas.....

Part Number 31170-RNA-A02 "Tensioner 31999"

Hope this helps others with the same issue.

I went on a 600 mile road trip the last 3 days and it was nice to not have the rough idle and valve chatter noise.

The first thing to go on my part was the circle shaped passenfer side dash vent. It started popping up on one side so they replaced that.

Since then, I've noticed the cover that goes over the driver's side sun-visor pivot point/hinge looks like it's breaking. I compared it to the passenger side and there's a huge difference.

Also, with the sun-roof closed, there are two little square covers/tabs, one on each side that never seem to stay closed. If tapped, they rattle and once you go over a couple bumps they open again. Anyone else have these problems?
