And now its not in your owners manual its in a service manual. Go dl a PDF manual for a honda civic (older gens) and look what it talks about for warming up to operating temps when you're doing timing, waiting for the thermostat to open, to see if the fans work, etc. I'm not totally against the whole dry revving thing but for it to be said as EXTREMELY bad yeah I think that statement's wrong. So whoever thinks I meant we should rev our engines to 3k everytime we start our cars you read wrong... I'm talking about when you're working on it and you need to warm it to operating temps.
You should seriously READ the manual. It does NOT say that. It says to keep the revs below 3k until its warmed up. NOT TO REV IT TO 3K TO WARM IT UP. If this were the case it would just simply stay at 3K when you start it instead of 2k and dropping slowly. (watch it next time you are not screwing your whole COLD car by revving it cold.)

thats what we call the 2 step. we use it out here for an extremely great launch! rev it up to that limit and then feather out the clutch..........bang you shoot off like a bullet.

Dude, I'm talking about when you work on a car. Read all of my posts inthis thread. It doesn't talk about when you wanna go to the store to buy something and how you should rev your engine.

my dad drove my car tonight., he wanted to drive it home from dinner since i drove to there..first time he has got to try it aside form when he took the car home when it was purchased...he was testing the vtec too.

Sitting in the garage, he rev's in neutral and bounced it at 5500...looks at me and asked why did it do that. Told him it was the rev limiter working to make sure the engine burn.
