My 2006 Civic Is Backfiring After Cold air Intake And Exhaust! Why?

I have a fujita F5 cold air intake and a magnaflow exhaust. after i installed the exhaust i can hear backfiring.

"Backfire in an automobile engine typically results from various malfunctions related to the air to fuel ratio. Usually, backfiring occurs in carbureted engines that are running lean where the air fuel mixture has insufficient fuel. ("Running lean" is typically a sign of mal-adjusted carburetors or fuel injection where there is not enough fuel for the amount of air). Afterfire, however, occurs in engines that have an exhaust leak or unburnt fuel in a decatted exhaust system. When a driver shifts up and lets off the gas, the engine has a moment of running rich or with insufficient oxygen. This causes an incomplete burn which causes the fumes to explode in the exhaust system. The leak itself is the most dangerous aspect. Without it, the mixture would cool enough not to explode. A fuel injected engine may backfire if an intake leak is present (causing the engine to run rich), or a fuel injection component such as an air-flow sensor is defective."

That's the defenition. I am running regular gas.

What cna I do to fix this? Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! :)

Any check engine lights? Did you unhook the battery while installing ecu needs to reset to learn new fuel curve

its normal for a sound of popping on MT models once
youve taken that silent granny exhaust off. I have
a V-force exhaust and it pops when i downshift a little
under bigger compression.

Did you get your ecu reconfigured? I think the air sensor is confused about how much a fuel mix ratio is needed for the burn since its getting more air then normal

I had my resonator taken off, MagnaFlow put on and I don't get any backfiring or popping so I doubt that's the problem. I don't have an intake yet though.

Did you reset your ECU when you put the Fujita on? Disconnect your negative battery cable for about 5 minutes then once you reconnect the negative battery cable start your car and let it idle for about 15 minutes, then just go drive your civic to let the ECU learn. Drive it exactly the way you intend to normally drive it.

If you saw the backfire in fact blow out your exhaust then there really is ecu problems. If you did NOT see it blow it...the lack of resonator can make it sound like it's popping or backfiring, while in fact...it isn't. Have someone look at your exhaust while you rev and let off right away. When both of you hear the sound, but does not have backfire flames come out...then it's the exhaust system's design. I might check into magnaflow's exhaust to see if there are any defects.
