Lunge in 1st gear at very slow speed
Alright, this might be tough to explain...
I was in traffic for a while today and whenever I was in 1st gear and my Si slowed under 600-700 rpms it would start to stutter. That is normal, basically the car is about to stall. However, while it was stuttering for half a second it would find some power and sort of lunge forward, without me touching the gas and without any sort of downhill slope. It was very odd. I had an 02 Si before this and that never occured. I could do it over and over again, and even while slowing backing up in reverse. Not that I think there is anything broken, just curious if anyone else has felt this. Mike |

Yea that is the dbw. I found this out in a campground where the speed limit was 5 mph. I let off of my gas for a second and it just stayed going 4 mph without me touching anything or stalling. I think it is pretty wicked. All my friends were amazed. Haha.

I havent had any lunging prob in my si...i also don't notice the rev hang (my si was built in April). I love the way it will move forward without any gas without stalling at very low speeds...pretty cool if ya ask me

First and second gears are rather touchy. If you're suddenly accelerating in them and let go of the gas, then yes, you will feel that lunge effect, especially in first gear. Adding slight pressure does sort of eliminate it but there are cases where you won't be able to avoid it.

i have about 5 k miles on mine, I HAVE NOT gotten used to it. it's really anonoying. i try to pull out the clutch before it drops the throttle, then i hate that because i have to get back on the gear a second after. if only that effect was eliminated. |

I'm not going to say I like it either, but getting used to it is just a small part of it. I've taken to not getting off the gas at all at those really slow speeds, or even some left-foot braking. I've 5k on mine as well, and the jittering sometimes gets REALLY harse...but hey, unless they (Honda) reflashes them...we'll just have to live with it, no?

Yeah, I've felt this before during the first week I had it. It gets a little nudgey, but the best you can do is lightly lay your foot on the pedal to keep it smooth. When you're turning though, you need to press in the clutch. It is manageable though...
