More Problems

Yep more problems. I think my car is a rebadge GM product.

I walk out today to give it a detailing, change the oil in the wifes Accord and detail it and Im met with this.

Then I saw this in the dash. Pics dont show it well but the dash insert is lifting up.

I then looked at the back and saw a damn bug in the tailight.

I had it tinted last week and now wish I hadnt spent a fricking dollar on it.

I had ordered everything lastnight to do a good audio upgrade. Also ordered wheels and tires for it and the Honda lowering package. Also had money set a side for a clear bra package with a adder for the matrial to be put on the rear bumper to protect it. Ive canceled all orders!!! Im not puting one more cent into this car untill it proves it worthy of it. To date it is failing!

Ive tried to keep this in a mental position,, of its a adventure!!! I know its a first run of a new gen. So I will take some responceblity for my actions in purchasing it.

So lets look at the problems to date Ive had with this car.

1) A lower dash panel wasnt installed right or was screwed up by the dealer.
I fixed it. Took the panel off heated with a heat gun to get the shape back right and reinstalled.

2) Heater duct fell off in middle console.
I fixed it with a screw.

3) Power steering pump leak.
Dealer fixed

4) Driver side rear spring sagged.
Dealer Fixed

5) Driver door window switch. Auto function wouldnt work right.
Dealer Fixed

6) Trunk liner sides deformed and puller out from under trim.
Dealer Fixed

7) 2ea. bad tires on the rear.
Dealer fixed

8) Bad windshield trim.
Pending

9) Bad dash trim.
Pending

10) Dead bug in tail light.
Pending

And then there are issues with the Accord we own also.

So Im putting my fanboy status on hold for now. Im starting to get pissed off at myself for buying Hondas. Its starting to appear like there engineering is sub par. There production, atleast in America and Canada really sucks. I could have bought GM products the lastime around and saved thousands of dollars and not had to drive 40 to 80 miles to get warrenty work done on them.

Sorry for the rant. Im trying to keep my sprits high concerning these cars. But honestly,,, its getting real hard.

little things start popping up with age...the tail light you can solve with a vaccuum and some determination...but take that stuff to the dealer and let 'em have it....they'll throw some double stick tape to keep that stuff down for ya...for another 50k miles or so....then it'll show it's age again. Best of luck! (PS...my car is doing the same stuff...minus the bug)

Showing its age... lolololol All the problems started around the 12k mile mark. That isnt age. :) Thats poor engineering and production for Honda and there suppliers.

Its never had armor all on it. Only Meg's Vinly & Rubber Cleaner/Conditoner.

Anyway I think its pretty much over here concerning Honda's. The wife put a few female items in the Ranger. Put her Accord key up and just made a video and beer run for me in the Ranger. She called while she was out and asked that i put the Hondas in the back yard where other jubk cars have been and tarp them up. She dosent want to have to look at them. and if the civic isnt out of the drive way by the time she gets home it wont be straight when shes done parking the Ranger back in the drive way.

I have to agree with Psyshack on that one. These are not normal age problems. Sorry psyshack that you are going through this. I remember one of your posts from a few weeks back with your problems and you got them all worked out and were very satisfied with your dealers efficiency. You also had a much more positive attitude than most would. To start having more problems again so soon would be too much for anyone to take.

I would be upset too. I consider myself a Honda "fan" also but no car should be showing it's "age" in it's first year. I bought a Civic due to how well my 90 Integra has held up and I believed in the product. Same with my friends who still own older Civics. I don't think they are using the same quality materials as they did in earlier years as they do today. That really makes me mad because this was the first time I bought a new rather than used car and I feel that people in the 90's got a better product than what todays money is buying (and we are spending more at that)

For example, my Integra interior has had no cracking or fading of the dash, pieces popping up, etc.... It is not garage kept and is right now sitting outside in 90+ degree heat with 90% humidity. It has a sunshade but for years I didn't even bother with no problems. The buttons on the radio are faded with use (all the other buttons, shifter, etc, are fine) and that didn't even happen until the 12+ year mark. I developed my first seat wear though in the driver's side back just this year.
As far as quality of parts, I haven't replaced anything this whole time but battery, shocks, brakes, exhaust; normal maintenance stuff. In fact my master cylinder held out for 15 years with daily around town stop and go driving.

I know that people must think I am lucky to not have problems. It's not luck. It was made well enough to last 10+ years with some care.
I have read tons of posts about seats coming off tracks, pieces coming off steering wheel and dash, visors coming apart, etc. and I don't think it is acceptable. Sorry for the rant but people should demand at least some reasonable quality construction.
I don't think it is too much to expect for a car to put together at least as well if not better than they have been in the past. That is how Honda got their reputation in the first place.

Well the Civic and Accord will prob. be the first and last Hondas we will own. I swore off there motorcycles many years ago. and Im seeing no reason to buy there lawnmowers. lolololol

Our 05 Accord and 06 Civic arent anywhere near the quality my mothers old CRX Si was or my fathers 4th gen. Accord EX. they still own there Hondas. The build quality and quality of matrials used now arent near as good.

Yeah know,,, we have had more warrenty issues with these cars than the total warrenty issues of the last 5 new cars we have purchased. And those where GM's and Ford's for god's sake!

O well they are in the back yard covered up. I will contact my dealer and get them fixed. But there fate isnt looking to good.

I have that too, along with one on the driver-side A pillar and somewhere from underneath the front of the sunroof, under the sunroof visor.

Curses.

Took the civic in today to a Tulsa dealer to have it looked at. They adjusted the hood per my request and ordered the parts needed to repair the trim issues.

This wasnt the dealer I purchased my cars from. I did try and deal with there den of thieves sales dept. when I started my hunt for Hondas. God where they high. The service dept. was kinda big city snobby like the sales dept. So I will see how they handel the repairs.

I wanted to take it to the dealer I purchased my Hondas from. i really like there sale and service dept's. I just didnt feel like driving another 40 miles up to Bartlesville in 100 plus degree temps.

Really weird bug problem..

sorry to steal the thread but I have a concearn about my car.
When I got my car it didnt have an undercover (by the pedals), so do you think that If I go to a local dealer (I got from a broaker who bought the car from somewhere far) they'll get me one?? Thanks, and continue with the other guys afterwards.

I bought one for my LX...fits fine and looks cleaner. I also bought the little rubber mat for inside the center console cubby that the DX gets (EX gets a smaller one cause they have a power port in there), since the LX is bare plastic. Couple of other things I got from the Hybrid or EX, but I forget now...i'll remember and post it.

I was scared that they were doing checks on my car and took it off.. then forgot to put it there..
I was like... hm... wires..
but uhh.. honda is getting cheap .. using cheap materials as it is.. visors.. doors.. by the ignition.. cmon.. gimme my plastic..
Granted it does have great crash test ratings and srs side air bags.. but that doesnt make up for everything!

Someone else on this site had a P.O.S. sedan. They traded it in for a coupe. An EX or an Si. I don't really remember. I just remember them saying what a PITA their sedan was.

Dash board

I got my LX coupe last week and i just realized the circular vent on the right top side of the dashboard can come out. Is that how it's suppose to be or should be be glued?

Yea, there was someone else on here who traded a Mazda for their Civic, ended up hating it, and even made a website about it.

Took the Civic in today to have the insert replaced in the dash and the clips replaced on the center cowl.

The clips did the trick. But they screwed my dash up. The insert is now all bent up in the center and there are tool marks all around the edge of the insert on the top panel. So now we get a new insert and top panel for the dash.

Round 3 coming up.
