Security Indicator Lights

Curiosity question about the security system, specifically the indicator lights.

For the first six months of use, we noticed a small flashing light on the dash near the CD player when the car was shut down.

However, within the last week, a second (much brighter) indicator light has begun flashing to the left of the speedometer after the doors have been locked. This indicator light never illuminated during the first six months of use at any time, locked or unlocked.

Trips through the manual give no other information than this is a security system indicator.

Anyone know what's going on?

Always a possibility, but, (imho, albeit subjectively ;-) highly unlikely...

For example, months of locking the car in total darkness... the dash light was always noticed... the light next to the speedo is many times brighter and was never visible.

We live outside of the city and work to keep light sources to an absolute minimum, so, even tiny sources of any illumination are highly visible.

My own personal vote is for a bad connection that finally got jostled into place or that the security system had not been active for some reason for the first six months.

I second that you probably never noticed it. My car flashes a red light for my radio and in the display where my speedometer, fuel gauge and temperature gauge are.

I think the one on the speedo is an indicator that the CAR is theft deterant and the one on the RADIO is stating it as well, is theft deterant. however you spell it.
