Throttle hanging....

Hey guys. I just got a new Civic SI and I've got about 1200 miles on it so far. All the videos I've seen of people revving it up the throttle comes right back down to an idle. When I rev it up past 4k, the throttle kinda hangs for a second and then returns to idle. It's not very long just different then the vids I've seen. Any idea what this could be?

Thanks

search for rev hang, its actually quite a common issue amongst ours cars because of the Drive by wire.

only on 2006 civics, there is the hondata reflash but its a lot to pay just to get rid of rev hang.

my 2008 does it as well. I thought this was supposed to be addressed after the flash on the 08 models. Oh well.

yes it was addressed but only to a degree, it was much worse prior to the reflash.

is the reflash covered under warranty? because mine hangs like hell.. it will hang at 2500 rpms and wont move for about a good 15 seconds.. (not all the time but like once a week or once every other week)

Yeah mine hangs a little. I got a CAI and that amplified it quite a bit. I'll see what happens after a race header.

Mine hangs for a bit also, though not as much as those from videos I've seen for the 2006 model. If I rev past 3.5K it will hang for about a half-second before dropping and any revs under 3.5K drops almost immediately. I've tried the A/C trick but didn't notice any difference in RPM hang. Rather it felt the same though it made the car more sluggish due to the extra strain with the A/C on. It really isn't anything annoying as far as I can tell. From what I've been reading, it all comes back to emissions calibration to meet the new stringent levels.

What really annoys me is the throttle lag during spirited driving. When you can react faster than the computer....well funs over.
