Unhappy My poor car! Accident today.

My poor baby got into an accident this morning. I was on Irving Street (in San Francisco) heading eastbound to get my hair cut for my sister's wedding this weekend. It was a beautiful clear morning and I was stopped waiting for the traffic light to turn green. Out of nowhere I feel a jolt rock my car. At first I was like, what the f*ck was that? Then I concluded that someone hit me. I look over to my right and there was a huge blue Escalade parked in my passenger side door.

It didn't come out very bad, but I'm pissed because...well because someone hit me! The lady driving the Escalade was pulling out of her parking spot and claimed she didn't see me. She actually said "You know, it's hard to see the back when you're driving one of these big SUVs." I was like "No shit, bitch!" I didn't actually say that but I was sure thinking it! She said that her rear view sensor didn't warn her, either. Whatever. We exchanged information and went on our way in the morning.

Here are some pics:

Damage to passenger front door:

Damage to passenger rear door:

Damage to f*cking Escalade (virtually nothing! only a few minor scratches):

After looking at those pics, all I can say is damn, I did a pretty sweet wax job on my car! Look at that reflection! Plus, it's actually pretty dirty!

But grrr!!!!

Luckily I had my digital camera handy. With the wedding coming up and out of town visitors, I just put it in my pocket for quick snaps.

That escalade looks like a beast! Sorry to hear but can't the auto shop just pull the dent out?

It's worth a try.

I'm not sure how they determine whether or not a dent is too big to be pulled out.

mannnnn... avoid Irving street by all means!!! i used to work in SF for 2.5 years, and i saw so many accidents along Irving.
for those of you who haven't been there - cars aren't parallel-parked along most of Irving street... they are diagonally-parked (to accommodate more cars). so it can get pretty hairy when retards like that are backing up. (i used to be one of those retards... narrowly missing an S2000 when backin up my aunt's '03 ML320!).

good luck with the repairs! i'm sure it's 100% the other person's fault! and to think that she even had backup sensors.

Damn! That sucks. I guarantee she wasn't looking and was just relying on her sensors to tell her that some car (or innocent child or anything else) was behind her.

I agree with you...

Yah, Irving used to be like Chinatown. Old people jaywalking everywhere, it seems to have calmed down for some reason though. I was there this morning too to get a tapioca lol. But yah, sucks to hear about your accident though it seems like it'll pop right back out. Looks like a pretty clean dent.

Thanks all for the kind and humorous comments. I really don't feel so bad about it anymore. It came out looking not as bad as I initially thought. I still have to see what the estimate turns out to be but I won't have time to bring it in for a few days with the sister's wedding and all. Anyhow, I'm sure the dent will come out. There's a bit of paint that rubbed off on the edge, but it's hardly even noticable unless you really look for it.

*sigh* I agree that my car won't be the same anymore. I already felt that way driving it around today.

To my fellow San Franciscans: yeah, I normally avoid Irving Street at all costs. I don't know what compelled me to drive there in the morning. Oh I remember...I needed to get to 14th and Irving from my place near the beach...I decided not to take Lincoln Blvd since there's road construction going on plus the morning traffic there slows everything down...and I figured there wouldn't be many cars on Irving in the morning. On a side note, becareful with Noriega Street, too. When you mix a bunch of Asian drivers and Asian pedestrians, man, all hell breaks loose...gotta avoid EVERYONE! lol (btw, I'm Asian myself). I'm glad the caucasian lady who hit me was very polite...made the information exchange process that much smoother.

I agree, either way she's no keeper. She was middle aged, by the way. What wasn't surprising was that when I went to inspect her vehicle, on the other corner of the bumper there were paint chips and cracking as well, which obviously came from another accident where she hit a wall she didn't see.

There was a cutie Asian chick in a 4Runner who drove by and said "aww...she hit you..." I wanted to give her a genuine smile and a flirty wink and a "how YOU doin'?" but I was so that my smile turned out to be a sarcastic smirk and she drove away.

It's no goner. The door frame is bent but not the actual internal frame. The B-pillar looks untouched. It's a low impact bump, but when a behemouth bumps into you it's gonna make a mark and it certainly did!

It actually sucks more for her because she managed to hit my car just at the right spot to damage BOTH front and rear doors.

She obviously wasn't using her side view mirror to look back. Argh, I'm getting mad again!
