PICS! clutch

alright guys some of you might remember me cus i posted about a weird shuddering on my clutch well i took it to the dealer and they replaced my clutch this is what was wrong with it... they told me that the next clutch installation was going to be 1thousand so to take care of it lol in a very sarcastic way, but hey its my car! and has warranty so i use it however the hell i want. heres the pics

FLYWHEEL: HAS HOT SPOTS, YUP FOR RACING AND POWER SHIFTING

THIS IS MY PRESSURE PLATE: MORE HOT SPOTS.

AND THIS IS MY CLUTCH: LOTS OF HOT SPOTS AND THERE ISNT SUPPOSED TO BE ANY BLUE OR PURPLE, THAT LOOKS LIKE GOT PRETTY HOT

WOW, so about how many times did you powershift?
I didnt think that this was covered by the warranty.

I think they should warranty as long as the factory powertrain warranty is in effect. If you go in with a bunch of performance parts they will probably turn you away. But if its stock, I say, If honda didnt want you to drive it that way, they wouldnt have built it so that you could drive that way.

Dealerships are finding tons of ways to void coverage on certain items now. It saves them money. If they deduce that it was driver error that could've been avoided, they'll try and find a way out of it.

There was a thread on redlining and high RPMs I saw in which the owner was "warned" about loosing his coverage if it happened again. I checked with the service department at the Acura dealership where I worked and they supported that. So yep, they're trying to find ways out of it.

And as far as Honda building it so that you could drive that way, most drivers don't powershift so why would they build it to withstand extreme use?

It's B.S. if you ask me. Trying to cancel coverage? Crap. What about people that bought a car and it's their first manual or bad drivers? They're being punished for it. Granted, some should but it's unfair to a lot of owners.

Yeah, it is your car but you have to learn the hard way I suppose "if your play you gotta pay" Honda or any manufacturer cannot be held responsible for abuse and that is what power shifting, dropping the clutch at high RPM burnouts, and many other things are. You bought it... you abuse it...you break it again..you pay! Honda did you a favor this time, do you think they don't recognize abuse by the condition the parts were in? I fully agree with their "warning" about a next time.

It's hard to tell from the pics but it looks like the clutch disc still had quite a bit of material left. How many mile did you have on the car?

Wow you should feel very lucky that they covered that. At the dealer i work at the clutch is a considered a wear item and is only covered under warranty under extremem circumstances. In fact in the year and a half I have been here I have only seen one clutch warrantied and that is because it was burned up by a lot attendent before the customer even picked up the car.

Anyway I'm glad to hear thjat you didn't have to pay for anything but i would say use this as a leeson learned and be more careful with your car.

Dam My clutch on my 97 Trans Am lasted to about 70k miles. I owned it from 40k to about 90k. And i beat the shit out of that car way worse than my civic.

Luckly i got a scangauge so i can tell how high the RPM's went from when i dropped it off, beat on my car and that porter will be in serious trouble, and i'll have ammo so if they do try to void me i can have proof the dealer beat on it.

Edit: LMAO just noticed this is only 10 months old. My bad.

Came from this thread, wasn't even thinking, oy i need some sleep.
Replaced Clutch?
