Airbag Indicator ON/OFF Light

I think my passenger airbag is opposite what it should be. When no one is sitting in the seat, the OFF is not lit up, but when someone does sit in the seat, the light says OFF.

Isnt that switched from what it should be? When no one is in the seat the airbag should be off, then when someone is in the seat, it should go on, right?

If you don't have anything in the seat, the indicator won't light up. If you have something/someone in the seat that doesn't weigh enough or is sitting wrong, the car will tell you with the light. Make sure that person has their seatbelt on and is sitting straight and isn't a little kid.

Mine never lits up as "OFF" whether someone is sitting there or not.

Read your manual, because it can describe this, and has many other interesting things.

If nobody is there, the airbag is off and the indicator doesn't light up.
if a small person or medium weight package is in the seat the the airbag is off and the indicator shows "OFF".
If an adult or heavy package is there then the airbag is on and the indicator doesn't light up.
