Clutch

2006 Civic Si coupe...stock clutch burnt out. Honda wants 1300 for new clutch and install. I do not want to do this anyone got suggestions on a new clutch? Discounts on aftermarket or stock?

it's going to run you $$ regardless of who does it.

clutch it not an easy job on these cars. you have to drop the entire subframe and the transmission in order to replace the clutch.

it's a total PITA.

/\ Yup, it's going to be expensive regardless. The parts are only about $300, the rest is all labor. If you get it done for cheaper then make sure it's at a reputable shop. If you take it to some corner mechanic he'd probrably be able to do it for like $800 if you're lucky, but at the same time he's probrably never touched an Si and it'd be his first time doing such an involved repair on the car.

ya, honda won't warranty any kind of friction material...like brake pads and clutch, they will consider them as "wear and tear", "abuse"...etc..

exceptions can be made when it's very obvious that the item should not be worn by x mileage...

example, brake pads with 500 miles on them etc etc.
