pull to the right
on my 07 2 door i have been going through tires like nothing. I am on my 3rd set at only 30,000 miles. I just went today to put a new set on. I went with hankook v4es. I brought it to the dealer i work at and did my own alignment as well. Now tho it pulls hard to the right but only when i hit the gas. Its like a torque pull. When i set the wheel straight with the cruise at like 60mph its straight as can be but as soon as i put my foot on the gas pedal it makes a right turn. I checked the air pressure and even rotated the front to back but still a pull. any suggestions?

Man what is going on here? I have the same issue, i got my car on September 2nd. It's my gf's car, she drove it for like 5 days straight before i had a chance to take it to the road.
As soon as i drove it, i noticed that when i'd let go of the wheel, it would pull to the right. Man i take exits off highways by simply letting go of the car. Brought it back to the dealer (l'allier in hull (gatineau) ) and they said "took the car for 8km road test, doesn't pull to the right" they said it was just "following the road" I compare my driving the brand new civic with my 2000 pontiac sunfire (250,000km) and my sunfire hold the road better! I wasn't satisfied with the first visit so i scheduled a 2nd. This time i went in the car with the mecanic to test. He agreed to do more investigation, scheduled another meeting to do more tests. (oct 20th) Tire pressure is ok, we didn't try inversing the tires yet. I noticed that it's mostly when i hit bumps in the road, the wheel tilts towards the right more, rather than stay straight. anyone else having this issue? |

i got the same issue. my car always pulled to the right, but i always diagnosed it as the road being convex for the rain.
im at 30k miles on my 3rd set of tires. i was lowered at a point, but now im at stock height with alignment and everything, still going through tires like nothing. ![]() and iono if its cuz my tires are wide or because of the camber, but it wears weird on the sides Last edited by vi3tshi3t08; 09-18-2008 at 01:10 PM. |

This is something i found off the web, it seems to best decribe my car/situation. It pulls to the right, only after i hit bumps!
The condition is called "bump steer," and it means your steering linkage is not mounted parallel in the chassis possibly as a result of collision or frame damage, a bent steering arm, misalignment in the chassis, or an improperly mounted steering rack. Bump steer is not a very common condition, but it can be a very unnerving thing to experience if you’re unfortunate enough to encounter it. It is usually most noticeable when crossing a major dip or bump at speed, as when crossing a railroad crossing or passing through an intersection with a lot of road crown. As the suspension bounces over the bump, it suddenly feels as if someone tugged on the steering wheel. The car twitches or jerks to one side as if it has a mind of its own. This occurs because of unequal toe changes that occur as the suspension extends and compresses. In a properly aligned car, the toe alignment of both front wheels changes equally as the suspension moves up and down. But if something causes more of a toe change in one wheel than the other, it will jerk the steering towards the side with the greatest toe change. The thing that needs to be checked is the parallelism of the steering rack and linkage with respect to the ground. This can be done by simply measuring the distance between both ends of the rack and the ground. If one end of the rack is sitting higher than the other, the rack is misaligned in the chassis. If it can’t be corrected by loosening and retightening the rack mounts, the subframe or crossmember on which the rack is mounted may be bent or damaged. This will require special straightening equipment or replacement to correct. The height of the outer ends of the tie rods with respect to the ground should also be measured. If one tie rod is higher than the other, one of the steering arms is probably bent. The cure here is to replace the steering knuckle. |
