Speed Shifting
Now I am an old fart so I hope I explain this the right way, when merging into traffic from first to second I hit the accelerator to about 5000RPM or so and shift into 2nd and it jerks badly same thing for 2nd to 3rd? Is this normal for the newer Hondas? My Old CRX didn't do this, its like trying to bark a tire in 2nd even though I honestly am not trying to, just to get up to flow of traffic quickly. I have driven a manual all my life so I am not a newbie, took it to the dealer**** and they said it was normal but I don't believe them. If you understand what I am saying if not I will try and clarify it.

make sure you watch the tach, this throttle by wire system does lag and hesitate a little and does take some getting used to if you've driven cable throttles your whole life. when you shift from gear to gear make sure you see the tach drop at least 1000 rpm's then release the clutch, you should be fine then. if you have the ac on the tach will drop faster than if you didn't have it on due to more load being applied by the compressor... again just watch the tach and make sure it drops before you shift.... but don't let it drop too much or it'll lurch again. you'll figure it out.

I have an '07 lx and haven't had any problems shifting. First to second is smooth, unless I screw something up and and don't get the RPM matching well, but that's my fault and has nothing to do with the vehicle. Since you're revving to about 5,000 rpm in first, you're going to get some rev hang so you'll have to account for that in your shift timing. If you shift very quickly, your engine will still be at a higher RPM than it should be for your speed in second gear. That would explain why the car lunges a little when letting off the clutch, especially if you're giving it more fuel before you let off the clutch.
Try adjusting how you drive a little. Normally you let off the gas and hit the clutch at the same time in a manual tranny, but try letting off the gas a half a second earlier so you get less rev hang and likely smoother shifts. I have a feeling you'll just have to get used to the drive by wire and make adjustments. |

Just control the clutch more to reduce jerkiness. Sometimes I will intentionally shift hard to get the chirps when I'm "in the mood."

You can remedy the problem with this sprint booster Sprint Booster Plug n Play Performance - - www.SprintBoosterSales.com . Good luck justifying the $329.95 price though

Sprintbooster sends an improved signal to the ETC (Electronic Throttle Control) which is amplified or "boosted" so that throttle is noticeably more responsive throughout the entire rpm range. Why would it fry the cpu??

Your right. Riding the clutch a bit at the last second before fully taking your foot off the clutch going into secodn seems to do the trick. I dont really see an issue from 3rd gear and on. However I now question the life of my clutch.
