LX Sedan With CAI Problem

Ok...so i installed a AEM CAI on my car..everything is fine, no problems.

So i decided to wash my car today...and that wash came with an UNDERBODY WASH...in my mind i was like i hope my intake doesnt get mess up from that..so i got my was and drove of..and next thiiing you know i feel a small jerk...and my engine light came on!!!

i was like WTF!?!?

i pulled over..and took of that cover thing..and touched the filter..and it was semi wet.

so i was like damn!!

SO i just got to work..and disconnected the battery...and waited for 20min.

the light came off...and i wont get off till 6pm today..and its really hot here in tx so im assuming my filter will dry up.

Even though the light came off..should i be worried?

im going to start hand washing my car now

So any opinions guys?

As long as you were able to start it back up and drive to work, I'd say that you did not hydrolock, but your engine was, obviously, starved for air, which made it shut off. Just dry out that filter.

Did you notice any white smoke coming out of the engine bay or exhaust?

I think that you're okay, man. Let us know!

Well, my car didnt shut off...it was running still...i pulled over and i turned off my car...and opened my hood. and there was no smoke or anything both in the engine bay.

i just asked my boss right now if i could check out my car...so i did and the filter is still kinda wet..on the bottom part of the filter is kinda wet..but the rest is dry.

im just not too familiar with the new 8th gen civics.

i need to see if i got a air bypass valve with my intake...jsut dont know what it looks like

You betcha. The CAI is mostly protected by the fender well, etc. anyways, but, yeah, just dry the filter.

Scan the code and let us know what code it is. i had a aem sri on my si coupe and went through a car wash and the same thing happened once. get the code and let us know, any autoparts store will scan the code for free.

obdII is not a sensor, rather its an Onboard Diagnostics system comprised of many sensors in conjunction with the ecu dealing primarily with emissions. its very specific as to letting you know what may be wrong with your car. One code may have up to five ways to fix one problem code so getting a correct diagnostic is key.

dont worry dude. you gotta get the intake fully submerged in order to risk hydrolock. If you do think there's a risk of hydrolock though, disconnecting the battery wont do anything. You gotta pull the plugs and crank the motor over a few times to get the water out of the combustion chamber
