There is no need to cut any wires or anything like that... The little thing that makes all the noise is actually behind your gauges. You have to take apart half the driver side dash to get to it, but its worth it if it bugs you that much! all tho the seatbelt light still blinks and is annoying i got used to it and dont see it anymore

Hope this helps... just dont go digging in there if you got no skills! I had a friend on mine who is a mechanic do it with me. No broken clips

Uhmmm.... the seatbelt law is Federal mandate on roads maintaned with federal funds (i.e. highways). Of course if your state chooses not to enforce it, that's different, but they can not make a law agianst federal laws. This is probably why Honda will not help you, because it's agianst the law and if you where hurt in an accident and they turned off the safety features, they might be liable. In anycase, I think the link above noted a method of rewiring the seats that could be helpful.

Completely wrong. First of all, the Federal Government is in no way regulating seat belt usage. It is a strictly state by state basis. For years there were multiple states without a manditory seatbelt law. I know the in's and out's of the law better than most because I was part of the group that lobbied to get the NH law changed from 12 and over to 18 and over having manditory seatbelts. Even on I-95 you are in no way breaking any law, provided you are over the age of 18.

Back on topic, I am also curious about this solution, not so much for myself, but for a few passengers who are too stubborn (read, stupid) to put on their seatbelts. I've considered not letting them in my car, but when that is not possible, it becomes quite annoying. HMC also has no legal liability to have a "chime" denoting when an occupant is not buckled up.

My next course of action will be to take measurements of the stock seatbelt clip, and to machine out a small metal spacer to clip into the passenger seat holder. If all works out, I'll see if I can make a bunch and sell them for exactly what they cost for materials. If anyone else is interested, feel free to PM me.

*Edit*

While this is not exactly where I stand on the subject (won't find me in a car without a seatbelt), it does stand as food for thought. FARS (Fatality Analysis Reporting System) shows New Hampshire, the only state with no seat belt law, and Massachusetts with its secondary law and one of the lowest belt usage states in America, have consistently over the last 9 years scored among the top 5 states for fewest fatality percentages per 100 million miles traveled. Maybe it has something to do with...*gasp* safe driving?

*Edit*

Underneath the seat is a set of wires with a plug on the end...if you were to remove your seat, you would HAVE to disconnect it...SO, just reach under the seat, and unplug the wire and harness.

There is a seatbelt wire harness under the seat but disconnecting it also disables the airbag.

Now that I've tried to help can I please ask why you do not wear your seatbelt every time you drive. Law or not it is really a safety issue. But I am not going to preach. I am sure you are old enough to make your own decisions.

what does it matter. if u're not wearign the seatbelt, what does she care about the airbag.

Why on Earth would you not wear one? I guess you'll see the results once you get hit.

Just wear your seat belt, I don't think there is any good reason to not wear one I think its incredibly unsafe to not wear a belt.

But if you must id goto the J/Y and cut off a seat belt end and use that, or really if you don't want the seat belt you probably don't want an air bag either so just disconnect the plug under the seat at least this way if you get in an accident you won't have your bags blow even though you will probably be significantly injured from the lack of wearing a seat belt.

He will be wearing a seatbelt. Did you read his post? Hes getting Takata harness's. So the alarm will chime because the oem seatbelts will not be hooked up.

holy fck wear your damn seatbelt, i refuse to move my car until everyone inside buckles. if not for your own safety then do it for everyone else on the road, im sure the last thing they want is a head on collision with you and there you go flying through the window and they get killed not by the collision of the car but by your dumbass flying into them.

short out the wiring for the seatbelt sensor before you install seatbelt. This way the weight sensor on the passenger side will determine whether or not to deploy the passenger airbag...and thus no chime!
