I would definitely wait for version 2... there are going to be some significant changes this time around. The plan is to do adaptive headlights, i.e. the ones that turn when you turn the wheel.
The mechanics are the part that really hasn't been sorted out yet. As soon as I get some parts shipped, I should have a "breadboard" version of the electronics... basically a potentiometer or rotary encoder on the steering wheel, fed into an analog-to-digital converter, into a BASIC Stamp module for PWM control, and out to identical servomotors controlling the projectors.
When I make the DIY, I'll write an "adaptive" version and a "non-adaptive" version.
When I get the electronics figured out, I will definitely be posting an update! :)

J-Ro, that was incredibly well written--probably the best guide I've seen on 8th civic yet. Great job and thanks for taking the time, I really like the setup too.

Thanks everyone!
I was hoping the ADC chips would arrive yesterday, but they didn't, so that kind of sucked. I'm waiting on those and the BASIC Stamp still so I'll keep eveyone informed when I get something working :)

I know the DIY is pretty old.. but I didnt really see it when it was fresh.. but yea.. its really great.. thanks for doing it.. although I dont completely like of the front mounted projectors.. they're too recessed for my personal liking. They do look really nice, but I would rather have it "flow" better with the rest of the casing. +1 for the great diy :]

Yeah, to be honest, I didn't do enough research on version 1... I thought that the reflector part couldn't be removed, so I worked around it. The front mount actually affects the light output a bit too. Not enough to worry about, but just enough to bug the crap out of me :)

There are a lot of tools required, but luckily the majority of them are all basic shop tools. In the DIY, there is a full parts/materials list... a few pages in I think.

^^ Haha, thanks Joseph :)

Well, the Stamp actually came today, much earlier than I thought, so now I'm up to my elbows in microchips and other goodies

so projectors are "focused" better on the road and HID aka xenon produce a bright ligint.... combined both and you get the best results for headlights right? i remember seeing once on ebay that some guy sold a the current projectors that are on ebay BUT modified with added stuff for hid with the ballast etc etc.... i never saw his auctions again and i wana do the best thing i can do on my headlights.... i was thinking first a custom paint on the headlights , i'vseen some tricked out cars that on the black part of the inside of headlight is painted to match car , 2nd projectors with hid .... is their someone that does both of these comibned?

Search around, there's lots of info and lots of examples. Ayenoc is one member I can think of who painted the black part to match his ASM civic. I will probably do that on my version 2 retro.
If you don't want to do the work yourself, go to www.customlightz.com... never went to them myself, but I've heard plenty of great things about them.
