Has anyone tried using a heat gun instead of the oven? I just feel a little funny about putting my headlights in the oven. It should work fine in theory, but I was just wondering if anyone has tried it?

The guy in this post used a heat gun to clear his headlights.

I also plan on using a heat gun to clear my headlights too. I'm guessing you just heat up a section then cut the sealant and pry it open a little until you go all the way around. It shouldn't be that hard. I'll try to post up a DIY.

Just use the oven. It sounds really intimidating until you try it out. I did mine with Ayenoc today. We did them for 4 minutes at 350. You start prying around the edge with a flathead screwdriver...and then just pull it all apart. It takes about 8 minutes total, including baking. I can see using a heat gun being far more cumbersome and tougher, seeing as how you can only warm up the sealent in one area at a time. The oven gets everything nice and gooey.

this might sound stupid, but are the turn signals still orange if you clear the headlights?

Just take your time. Make sure the headlight is clean as possible before you bake it. Then have gloves ready to take it out, and pry away. Screwdriver around the edge to get it ready, then pull it apart.

Oh, and make sure you get those torx screws out first.

Good luck.
