since i work at oreillys i was able to find out the part number for the coil resistor entropy used

its

RU12
the line code is BWD (borg warner)

if you dont live near an oreilly, you can use the part number (ru12) to cross reference anything similar a competitor (autozone, advance, napa) would offer

i have a 12awg goin from the battery to the switch..then i believe 14awg from the switch to the ground AND connected the 14awg to a 12awg fuse wire..then from that 12awg fuse wire to the resistor and from the resistor out is 12awg and i spliced that into 2 14awg wires to the headlights..pink on drivers side and white on passenger side..i used a 7.5A fuse and a resistor i bought on ebay.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=260157118688 ..i jus tried to mess with it earlier and the switch's light turns on..but the resistor doesnt get hot..so theres something wrong there..help me

i had the exact problem, the resistor you bought takes all the power

my switch light would come on but the lights did not, the switch light was also on when the DRLs are suppose to be on, the resistor is taking too much power

i say stop by your local electronics store and asking for a "coil resistor" or "ballast resistor" or stop by your local O'Reillys and getting that RU12 part by Borg Warner

so ur drl's acted normal as if there was no modification done? because thats what mine is doing..pretty much the switch i hooked up does nothing..the DRL still goes on when the ebrake is down as it should without the low beams on..and when the low beams come on..the DRL's turn off..thats what mine is doing..my switch doesnt even affect anything..u think its my resistor? do i have to get a new one? where can i order one? because i do not have an O'Reily's around here..

id say definately try pep boys. and yes they may be right about the resistor. it could be taking all the power away and the lights might not have enough power to even turn on. like i said before just try and wire everything up without the resistor in there and see if the lights come on like that. if they do come on then its def your resistor. if not then its somewhere in your wiring and you should check, double check, and triple check everything.

from your description you seem to have the wiring done correctly. like entropy said, try it without the resistor to diagnose whether the resistor is the issue. if the resistor does turn out to be the issue, maybe it's because it's not durable enough ??? it looks heavy duty, but who knows. i suggest using the exact one entropy used or the one i got from hot-spark. good luck!

so try it without the resistor and see if the switch actually acts like a switch to turn on and off the high beam? cuz right now it doesnt do anything..but ill try to do that in a few minutes..and see how that turns out..otherwise i guess i have to buy another type of resistor and try that out..

autozone should provide SOME type of ballast resistor for car parts

if its a special order from their warehouse, tell them to order(you have to pay in advance)

just tell them to INTERCHANGE parts number RU12

well if the switch isnt doing anything either it might also be your switch or something...

thats so gayyy..thats what i was thinkin too..i bought a brand new switch and i was thinkin..its possible that the "source output" part of the switch thats supposed to go the the lights is faulty or something..so ima go try to get another switch and test my theory out..cuz i have 3 of the same resistors that i was using and none of them make a difference..the wiring SEEMS to be correct..the only thing left for me to check is the switch..so hopefully its that..cuz im tired of troubleshooting..either the switch or the resistor or both...last things ima try..if that doesnt work..i give up
