I did exactly like you mentioned and once I tapped into the white wire on the right headlight high beam harness, tested it and it blew the fuse inside instead. The resistor did start to get warm as you mentioned so I knew for a fact there was circuit going through but the LED light on the switch didn't seem to light up. I even tried putting a 7.5 fuse in there and got nothing. Grounded it and tried thinking why it wasn't working then just gave up. I had other plans for the day and it was too hot to be working outside.
hmm...well i have no idea what the problem is. although i will say this, that resistor you got from radio shack, throw it out. i had used the same thing when i first did this and it got too hot and cracked itself apart within a few days. it is very hard to find the right resistor. i went to 3 radioshacks, autozone, and finally orielly's.

Yeah, there's no such thing as an Orielly's around where I'm from.

first of all, +1rep for EntropyXIII. a great diy that is simple to do and makes your headlights look sexy !

here's a link to a few pics (i didn't know how to insert images directly). i apologize for the poor lighting and camera quality. they don't look nearly as good as EntropyXIII's :

http://www.flickr.com/photos/1429141...128088/detail/

the most difficult part was routing the wires (one from battery + to switch and one from switch to fuse) around the firewall. it took awhile for me to figure out until i found a simple solution on this thread:

How To: Run power wire 2007 Civic Si Sedan

the thread is for a si sedan. i have an ex coupe, but the only difference is that the grommet on my car is not free. it's connected to this tube. it's all good though because i just routed the wires through the same hole on the car chassis around the grommet. good thing there was enough space for me to squeeze two 18 awg wires around it.

i followed the exact same setup as EntropyXIII, except for the resistor. also, all the wiring was done with 18 awg wires, which were the same as the wires for the drl. for my car, the right drl's power wire is white (see my pic in link), while the left power wire is red. the 1.3 ohm resistor i used (see my previous post) made the drl more dim than what they normally are. perhaps a 1.2 ohm would be more ideal (like EntropyXIII's) although they light up fine at night. make sure you mount the resistor on a metal surface because they can get hot in a hurry! i used metal wires to fasten the resistor on the metal chassis under the radiator cover just to the left of the hood latch (see my pics in link). i don't have and don't plan on installing fog lights, so i mounted my rocker switch where my fog light switch is supposed to go (see my pic in link). there's an easy to follow diy on how to do this:

DIY: Integrate your battery-free garage door opener into your dash!

this is a great diy that won't take much of your time and will make your lights a whole lot sexier. thanks for the pm help and the great idea EntropyXIII!!!

btw, i didn't have any problems when i had my drl on and turned my high beams on. the only thing i haven't tried is turning it on during the day when i have my regular drl on. i doubt that would cause any problems if turning on the high beam didn't.

connecting two wires on the + side of the switch, one wire to the ground and the other wire to the + of the battery?

while the - of the switch to the lights?

you're almost right. the power (+) for the switch goes to the battery. the ground (-) goes to any metal touching the car chassis. the source power (+) goes to the lights. if you bought your switch new, there should be instructions telling you that one goes to the 12v power (battery), one goes to the ground, and one goes to the source (lights). just follow EntropyXIII's diagram on page 1. i followed it exactly. hope this helps...

by the way, DO NOT MOUNT YOUR RESISTOR WHERE I MOUNTED IT!!! after one long night of driving, the resistor got so hot it kind of melted the plastic cover over it (the cover that goes over the front grill/radiator). mount your resistors out in the open. i will find another spot (perhaps where EntropyXIII mounted his) or elsewhere and post pics...

ok. i found a place to mount the resistor. it's the same area, but instead of mounting it in front of the car chassis, i put it underneath. i've reloaded pics in my link:
