I was starting to sweat there for a second... I looked at the pictures first and began to think that I seriously screwed up that diameter measurement... phew.

The gap will be an annoyance, but it won't be a big issue I don't think. Assuming I don't revise the design, I could probably fill the gap when I join the projectors to the shells.

ethlar, fire me a PM about payment and I'll let you know on the address.

I owe you bigtime for this!

Hey, yeah I got them... thanks again! They fit well, but again, I've come down to the question of whether or not the projectors will fit at all. I mean the projectors fit, but there is VERY little room for movement. I'm going to have to take a closer look and make a decision once and for all.

Well, this is the post I was definitely not looking forward to making. I've come to the conclusion that no matter what way I try it, the projectors aren't going to fit with enough room to move. I'm kind of pissed off because I put so much work into it to have it fail over something so simple, and I kind of feel like I let everyone down.
However, because it doesn't work with the TSX projectors doesn't mean it won't work at all. If striker or anyone else can fill me in, I'm sure there are smaller projectors that are more likely to work.
At this point, I think I've already dumped enough money into this project, and after my move, I definitely don't have any extra money to play with at this point.
If anyone wants to take up this project with a new set of projectors, I would be more than willing to help in whatever way possible. Where to get parts, how to use the stamp, programming.... anything. I still want to see this work.
Again, I apologize to everyone for the failed attempt. If anyone can finish this and get it to work, the glory will be yours :)

I can understand if this is a height restriction, but if they are moving side to side it sounds more like it needs width. And for that, if the Low beam housing is too small, why not modify the headlight to incorporate the high beam housing as well.

Give it a shot without the use of the reflector. Since that's the restricting part....

You can do it!

It sounds like the housing is restricting the headlights from turning, but has anyone tried cutting the housing? I understand the desire for everything to remain "looking" stock, but this should be more than that...this should be about accomplishing a goal! This is just the prototype stage...once we figure out the kinks, it should be no problem to either create a custom housing that fits this mod perfectly, or is a completely new setup that one can purchase outright.

*Sorry about the double post...wouldn't let me edit...*

I was thinking about this, and why hasn't the concept of pivoting the projector on a hinge come up? You could use the same software, except the servos that would turn the projector left to right, now control the freely moving end of the projector that is hinged. See attachment...

this thread is freaking awesome, even though you havent gotten them to work yet, the program you wrote is sick

im a senior in highschool and im in a basic programming class now and its REALLY cool to actually see some of the shit we've learned being put into a written program to do something cool like adaptive projectors

^ Hey thanks... if you're interested in applications of programming, you can buy a BASIC Stamp kit for around $50... it's basically a poor man's PLC. It stores a program that you write and can basically do anything you want it to as far as I/O. If you really want to try that program out for yourself, let me know and I'll send you the properly formatted version so it's easier to read.

And thanks for the info, Tomasro. It basically comes down to lack of room in the housing for the projector itself to move. A smaller projector would probably have a better chance, but I already bought TSX projectors and I don't feel like dumping more money for another set. Webby said he has some ideas though, so I'm anxious to see what that's about.

B & B Electronics does have some PLC's for $99. I've programmed and installed these and they seem to be holding up to the Arizona Summer so far. Not sure if you could use them?

damn so close, for something sooo simple
how far are u looking to turn the projectors? i dont see how there isnt enough room???
also if its a left to right room, cut out the highbeams and fabricate a str8 back, high beams are generally useless with HIDs neways, if u need them, add in a Hella set later!
