Thanks Marc... I'm trying to picture plastic testicles on my car, but I'm not coming up with anything

Unfortunately I haven't had a lot of time lately to work on this. I've had a few discussions on HIDPlanet about this, but replies aren't as quick as on here
I have some more ideas for the "ball-and-socket" method, so I'll post more pics when I get something going.

Still going with the ball and socket? I really don't know how that would hold up with daily driving and bumps.

I feel bad actually... I haven't worked on it in a while. I've been out of town the past few weekends and I can only work on it at my work which makes it difficult. I promise I'll update the thread when I get something going

Sorry, not much of one yet. I'm painting my goalie mask right now, which is doing a solid job of distracting me
I'm also starting to think about turn signal mirrors, but I guess I should stick to one project at a time.

So what does the finished product of the installation product look like?

Ironically, the finished product will look very much like most of the retros that customlightz does. The only visible difference will be that the spherical "shroud" part will be able to move.

Well, I'm still looking around for a pastic ball that has a 4.5-inch diameter. The 4-inch one MIGHT work, but it's a really tight squeeze and won't leave much room for movement as it is. I've checked McMaster-Carr (www.mcmaster.com) since they have a ton of random supply stuff like that, and they only seem to have 4-inch and 5-inch, and I've already checked the 5-inch, which is too big for the housing. I might check it again to see if I can make it work somehow.
If anyone knows where I can get a hollow 4.5-inch ball, that would save me a lot of time... if I can figure that part out, then I'm away to the races

do you by any chance have access to a rapid prototyper machine, you could make the plastic ball to your specifications for diameter and thickness.

Really??? That would be cool! Okay, let me make a few more measurements so that I can be sure it's 4.5 inches. I'll shoot you a PM when I get a number, hopefully later tonight!

Hey Karl, I had someone in TO who was interested, but I saw in his profile that he was looking at an s2k retro, so I don't know which way he's going. If he doesn't want them, though, they're all yours. Once I actually get this fat-ass project off the ground
