09 Si OEM Fog Mod w/ Stalk Control *PIC HEAVY*

**Update** Another thread made by k2010Si himself. =]**
2009/2010 Independent use of Fog Lights

Don't know if this has been posted.... but anyway, I'd like to thank "k2010Si" for the 316th post on DIY Oem Fog Lights with Parking Lights/ 06si

Allows you to use your fog lights independently of parking lights, headlights, and high beams. The fog light dash light WILL turn on if the headlight/parking lights are on. Pretty much just splice and tap a wire from the steering column to the lighting control relay... Simple.

** Do not hold me liable for any damage or injury inflicted in doing this mod **

~Note: The orange wire from the lighting harness always receives a 12V current UNTIL the fog lights turn on when the current is interrupted to about 1V.~

Undo these three screws to remove steering column cover...

I used a flat head to separate the top and bottom portions...

The harness you want from the steering column...

The lighting control relay...

Splice the PURPLE wire with a new wire of your choice then route it to the back of the steering column...

Cut (or splice*) the ORANGE wire from the light harness...
*You CAN splice into the orange wire as well; however, the fog lights will turn on with the headlights.*

It'll look like this at the end...

End Result:

Nice Job.

So having the fogs wired this way - every time you turn on the headlights your fogs come on? Is there anyway to run the headlights without fogs?

No, fogs are independent. Pretend it's like the Fog button, but on the OE stalk instead....

(Now I remember why I had to cut the orange wire... )

Very nice DIY. I will for sure be doing this.

One question though, since the fogs are independant, are they like the headlights when you turn the car off? Meaning, if I forget to turn the fogs off, will they stay on even with the car not running and key out of the ignition?

Yep. But you won't get the "lights on" chime...

Alright, just wanted to check about that. I never leave my headlights on anyway, so if I were to leave the fogs on, I'd have to be stupid not to notice the lights and go back and turn them off lol

very good DIY i must do this soon.

1 question though, Will the DRL bulb still come on when driving? Im interested in just rocking my fogs sometimes. Will this do anything about the constant DRL light?

You can pull fuse # 37 to get rid of the DRL.
