Just ground it to any metal point on the car and throw a switch on there. I have mine set up so i can have them either on or off OR do the fade with the dome light. I have a DIY for that somewhere.

You would be able to control it even if its tapped into the dome lights?
Say your driving at night and you'd want them on just turn on the switch?

instead of tapping the negative wire couldn't you just put the negative wire from the led into a ground bolt?

hey guys, quick question, I couldn't find this in the forum, so here it goes I bought 2 of these 24 LED Strip Car Lights Flexible Grill Light White - eBay (item 180367993894 end time Jul-11-09 20:07:24 PDT) and I'm trying to figure out the best and easiest way to connect them. Can someone please help me, I just want to know how to connect the wire, so the lights are on when the ignition goes on. Thanks in advance

So I had some left over cathodes from my old computer that I found today, so I cut my wire, and then crimped and Tapped into the LightBlue/Gray, and the Pink/Gray. The lights work when they are supposed to and all is well except one thing.

When I lock my car twice to hear my beep!, it doesn't beep. So I rolled down the window and opened the trunk and door expecting the horn to go off as well. Also the "Shift Light" doesn't blink along with the radio's Anti-Theft red light. This is for a 2007 Si.

I tapped twice into each wire for the two different cathodes.

Did I pop a fuse somewhere or did I do anything wrong?
Any insight on my issue is greatly appreciated.

Help please!

This is my first post though I hope I could contribute instead of asking questions however I believe the following questions would help others too.
Thanks in advance

The Blue T-Tap shown is to my aftermarket amp, please disregard. It's connected to a Purple/Grey wire and only comes on if the car is in the ON position. (See post #9 - Si uses the Light Blue wires)

Thanks. I and others need some help:
1st question: I am still confused on the wires and connections to fuse box. I included the pictures that confused me. One arrow is pointing to a white wire and says Tap pink/grey. Can someone please post two clear pictures?
2nd Can we test wiring before installing? That's connect the led to those wires then connect the switch and led?
3rd question: Can this work as on/off/Auto? The same way the dome light works. That's I Can keep it on whenever I want as in on for dome light?
In 3rd question case what would be the switch?
I am refering to this post

Idk what's going on.

CLIFFNOTES

Question 1) How do I get my lights working as stock?

Question 2) After 1 is solved, how do I have my courtesy lights stay on all the time?

(If you need more information/pictures, let me know)

Thanks,

Joey

This picture is better for the two wire.

However, I can not remove the fuse box cover (the one with car hood) since this blue harness and it connections are hidding under it!
Then what should be done about the other questions. What kind of switch? and how it will be connected to those two wires? Notice that I do not have map light as in that project.

DIAGRAM FOR SI WIRING

BLUE BOX represents harness under fusebox
YELLOW BOX represents lights (be the LED's or a cold cathode tube ballast)

BLACK THING represents a 3 way switch (required if you want to turn you lights on permanently after the car starts rolling)

ON LEFT PRONG you will notice the wire goes no where, you need to attach this to something metal in your car (creating a ground)

Hope this helps

Question

Dude, like you guys must all be engineers or something. I have read this thread like 4x and still cannot get it to work, i bought these from ebay ($18)

I already installed sick LEDs on my dome and trunk lights but now I am trying to install these into the footwells, but I cant seem to understand how to run the wires or even get the electrical working. If anyone here is in the NYC/LI metro area and would like to earn some $$$. Please contact me so that I can set this up, Thanks. Your Photos and diagrams are great, but my only electrical experience is creating the potato cell back in 5th grade.
