I just completed this DIY with a three way switch and I'm very impressed with the effect of the lights at night. Right now I have the lights connected to a 12V source directly from the battery and a 3-way switch that switches between a permanent ground and the dome controlled ground (pink wire in blue harness). Is it possible to create a circuit where the courtesy lights turn on when the headlights are turned on AND also turn on with the dome lights?

First, use the search function to find a DIY (there are plenty)

... and use a screwdriver or something and just ply it open. Worked for me

Good luck

Wow, that looks B-E-A-UTIFUL. Did you do it or you got it done somewhere?

I have been coming across these courtesy light installs a lot recently and am interested into putting them into my car. I understand completely on how to wire everything, but i was wondering if the led's could be wired to both the dome wires [pink/light blue] for courtesy lights AND be wired to an always on fuse with a switch to turn on and off the lights as desired?

so basically [pink/light blue] -> leds for courtesy
and proper fuse in fusebox -> basic 2prong switch -> leds for switchable on/off

they can, alot of people have done it
once i fix the problems on my self made 36 blue superflux led strips (thats each strip :-D)
(problems being some bad resistors burning out the leds)
I will be doing the same with a single pole double throw switch
one throw to use the GROUND for the dome lights (tapped!)
one throw to use a solid ground

I got all my lights installed but still using the original switch that came with it as well as the battery. I still don't have an idea where to connect the +positive wire and if i really need to get the three way switch. any will be much appreciated. thanks!

battery? wanna show me what lights u got? and are we talking under the dash???

ok a 3 way switch is a bit diff from a SINGLE POLE DOUBLE THROW lol u need that
the center wire will go to the light, the + wire from the light will go to either the car battery, or get what is known as "add-a-circuit" in mini atm style, and get ur pwer there.

the other two poles of the switch (lets call them left and right) will go to whatever u want. For me ONE goes to a solid ground, so i can get power whenever. The other goes to the ground wire for the dome light (pink wire if im not mistaken) as that will taper them off like the dome does!!! and yes it works on leds!!!

i used electropods as well and it came with a switch and a battery.
so from my understanding, 2 wires connected to center going to lights and 12v power, left/right to ground/dome ground. will try that tomorrow. thanks
