Is this bad for my lights?

I have an '08 RDX which has an auto off delay feature. I like to use this feature so when I come back to the car and unlock it, it turns on the headlights. The catch is that they flash on and off just like the rest of the lamps. I think I read somewhere that flashing HID lights can shorten their lifespan. Thoughts?

Wonder why they designed it like that. My Ridgeline had auto off and they would come back on when I unlocked the car but they didn't flash with the marker lights.

Eh. You probably won't keep the car long enough to worry about it causing any problems.

Many ballasts now have hot restrike that doesn't damage the parts like it used to. And a LOT of alarms trigger the headlights on and off. That'd do a LOT more damage then the occasional flashing of the low beams.
