Ebay foglight install trouble
Just got some ebay fogs, but i picked them up from the vendor themselves. Ofcourse it didnt come with instructions they said something about it should hook up like the oem ones and blah blah blah. I installed the foglights them selves with ease, except the 1 pin connector plug didnt fit, so i had to take the white plug off and stick the 1 pin connector in by itself and tape it up. But the thing that threw me off was the interior foglight switch installation. The cables it came with were nothing like what i could find on these forums.
![]() ![]() I know the green one goes into the switch, the big black one goes into the fuse that the kit came with, one of the white ones go into a plug with the blue tape, but i can not figure out where the last white connector and the red goes. The red one throws me off, i havent seen one of these yet for our foglights. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() If anyone has installed these type of fogs, help would be most appreciated , otherwhise i think im going to just splice from my headlights to turn them on.

have an upclose pic of all the connectors other than the grren one?
The red goes to a power supply. You can tap into one of the empty slots on the fuse box in the car. i believe it is #8 slot. Black goes to the ground. This is where I need the pics cause the plug colors you have a diff than what i have seen on a K2 fog kit. Black(which was blue in the K2 kit) i think goes to the blue empty slot on the top left of the fuse box. One of the white ones(which was brown) goes to the brown plug that is above the clutch pedal. Grab a flash light. the other white one stays unplugged. If you can get pics of the puls I can tell you better which is which.

edited for more pix, thanks nomar for the reply put more pix up, so if i understood correct one of the white ones remain unplugged? i know which one goes into the brown one above the clutch pedal, but do u know if the black one goes into the fuse box, where the relay thing ( in the second pic from the bottom) is suppose to go? And also you said the red one goes to the power, but my red cable has that weird connector thing on it (picture 2), do i just take that off and put it into the 8 slot?

thanks for the help though i think, imma try taking off the red thing and putting it into the 8th slot, my dad knows alot about the wiring and stuff and said hes done it to his past cars, so i think i might just let him do the splicing into the headlights, thanks though

Tredd, I have no experience with the style of harness you have although it looks similar to the K2 version that I have but w/ different connectors. I suspect that the red connector is supposed to draw the main power from the car and feed it to your fog lights. I have seen that type of connector in the past in other applications and it is a piercing type of connector, its designed to wrap around another wire and the little blades pierce the insulation and make electrical contact inside... known notoriously for causing intermittant connections and failure. You have two choices, you can either find the thick blue wire and try to connect to that or cut the red connector off and tap into a spare slot on your fuse panel (#8 for instance) with a nifty little kit called Add-A-Circuit by Littlefuse. It comes with a bunch of spare fuses, plug the Add-A-Circuit into slot #8 and plug a 10A fuse into the side of it. Also put a fuse in slot #6 as this protects the low current side that flows through the switch and ultimately into the relay.
That spare white connector I suspect probably goes into a slot in the upper left corner of your fuse panel. But that connector won't fit there. Mine was different but I had to cut mine off (actually I pulled the wire and pin out) and stuck it on the lower right pin on the inside of the socket on the upper left corner of the fuse panel. You can test for this by powering up the ignition and using a multimeter and testing for a 'hot' pin. If you need pics I can supply some for ya... by the way I have an LX Coupe so hopefully its the same style of wiring. Good luck, hope this helps! Last edited by Tracer; 04-21-2008 at 03:21 AM. |

update : i actually got the switch to work so i can turn the switch on, but the problem is that the foglights arent turning on when the switch is turned on. i was thinkin where the foglights themselves connect in the bumper is off, but could it be because one of the plugs on the harness under the dash arent plugged in?
