Problem with aftermarket radio & antenna adapter..

So i have an Alpine CDA-9886 headunit installed on my car. I bought this metra antenna adapter

Honda Antenna Adapter Motorola Male to OEM Female at Crutchfield.com

but it just doesn't work... i attached the factory radio harness the motorola end adapter and plugged it into the back of the headunit. am i missing anything or doing anything wrong? i can just let the blue wire hang loose right?

The blue wire needs to be connected. I had to do this on my Ridgeline. connect it to the +12v power antenna lead on the aftermarket harness.

wrong section for this post BTW :P

Its solid blue on a kenwood harness, but it should be called power antenna. Get the alpine manual out and check what one it is.

I actually get a better signal now than the with stock radio. I don't think the Civic antenna is amped.

I have a z2 and my fm/am reception is bad so I had a second installer talk a look at my z2 just in case the original installer missed something. Did you use an antenna adapter by any chance? Because I mentioned this the second installers and they told me that newer cars like the civic already has a built in adapter or it can probably to without one. Is he right? Or do I need one? Please help. Thanks.

You need to hook up the blue wire. The antenna is amped so it won't work without it.

Can it technically do without it an antenna adapter? I just want to figure out if it will work without it coz if it can then I know that I don’t have an antenna adapter on mine. But if it can’t work without one then I know that they installed one and the problem is probably caused by something else. Thanks for the help.
