well, 4300K would look just yellow with the lens...
i had yellow lenses too... i was gonna go for 12000K to have a greenish look (blue + yellow light = green)... i think yellow is too common, i wanted a more intense/aggressive/wtf look... but it would probably attract more attention from cops... but its up to you =) |

Go 3000K... if you go with anything but that, you will end up with a funny colour by the time the light gets filtered through the lens.
I had the same thing happen with white LEDs under a red lens. You'd think it would work but it doesn't because the LEDs aren't perfectly white. They're not HIDs obviously, but the principle is the same.

either way, when filtered through the yellow lens, it'd be greenish... since his lenses are already yellow, 4300K would do the trick for yellow look... yellow hids with yellow lenses are kind of redundant... |

Yellow HIDs with yellow lenses are NOT redundant, that's my point! You need to consider the fact that only yellow light or perfectly white light will filter through the lens correctly. To the OP, you're very welcome to try with 4300K, but don't be surprised when the colour looks goofy.

^^^ I Think he is talking about with the yellow tint. Yours is with a clear headlight lens?
I think the 3000K is your best bet since you really cant go wrong with that. I believe someone here is also running the yellow fogs with a 5000k bulb and his I think ts still yellow. CaliBoi07FG2 is his s/n Last edited by pgFA; 04-14-2008 at 12:00 AM. Reason: Added info. |

oh, yeah yellow film, like lamin-x, isnt quite yellow. i have yellow lenses and thats yellow. 3000K seems on the greenside. best bet is to go yellow lenses with 4300-5000K HID.

rule of thumb when using a colored lens, is to match the color lens with the same color light. such as red bulbs for brake lights that have a red reflector, yellow/amber bulbs for turn signals, white bulbs for reverse and so on. for this, i would say choose the 3000k kit. the yellow light emitted from the hid kit, would fully pass through the yellow lens thus in theory, giving the maximum light output.

I'd just like to reiterate this point. I think a huge misconception is people think there is a positive correlation between these two things. You can stick 30K HIDs on your car and I'll be able to see you from light years away, but there's no way in hell your car is going to produce much usable light.

The shop guy that says 12000k for your HIDs should be fired, gutted, then drawn and quartered.
Get 3000k. And the only "real" way to really gauge how much you can see as compared to the other is to sit down in the car and look down the road. Looking at them 3rd person is not a good way to judge output. Firstly, if the G35 has HIDs equipped, the Civics will look MUCH brighter, since the headlight reflectors will likely throw the light haphazardly everywhere though mostly in a beam pattern. The higher you get on the Kelvin scale, the less light output your eye is able to see. I mean, if we could see more with 12000k, we'd be bordering on UV vision. Our eyes are "adjusted" to see better at noon-day type light. Which is about 5400k or something like that. So, accordingly, we'd see better with either 4300k or 6000k.

I think we're going to have to get some people with pics of their >=4300K HIDs under yellow lenses to figure this one out. Otherwise we're all going to be speculating indefinitely.
