uber noob HIR question

I've been lurking around these boards for a while now and have yet to see one pic of an HIR set up! If someone could post one it would be much appreciated. I'd like the see the direct comparison vs an HID set up.

Thanks!\

::edit::

and wow, on my first post i managed to rip off the title of another posters post from a few lines down(holy redundancy)

The only time I ever saw comparison photos for HIR bulbs, it was a comparison thread between HIR and stock halogen. And to be quite honest, I couldn't tell a visible difference between the two. So needless to say, HID will be much brighter than HIR.

Well that may explain why there is never a comparison. Thanks

its because HID blows the HIR out of the water.

not really. That's due to the concentration in light going into one big "hotspot" whereas the HIR will spread light evenly.
And because on that comparison, the bulb is 4,300K rather than what most people use such as 6000K, HIR is at 2000 lumens so the extra 1200 lumens from a 4,300K bulb will look much brighter

New HIR's

Barely discernible difference if at all.

HIR is yellower and more intense. With that said, it will reflect less on wet or black surfaces

So, this brings me to my next question. Is PnP HID easy enough to install? I'm not the most "mechanically inclined" person but I still think they look nice.

yup but i'd rather locate the ballast on another spot. that is because of corrosion buildup caused by water will shorten up your ballasts. A good place is under the headlight but you have to take off the bumper. It is high enough to not get exposed to weather and secure enough to not let any water get near it
