I wanted the ability to turn on my fog lights (ditch-lights to us railfans) independantly from whatever setting the headlights were on. I purchased a set from K2 for my '06 LX Coupe in November.
Just a warning to you; they AREN'T plug-n-play. I had numerous issues with them and I would rank them as Wal-Mart quality. |

Hmm... lucky guys. Where do I start...???
Mine arrived without any instructions (no prob, a quick e-mail to them and they provided the CollegeHills Honda instruction set) and no templates. Right side foglight housing was missing a rubber cover over the vent, I didn't notice this until almost a month after the install when the inside accumulated moisture. Dried it out with some success. The bulbs provided had a blue coloured coating which was neither advertised or wanted. Bulb in r/h unit doesn't seat tightly in fog light housing and the glass portion of the bulb is bent downwards. A shield (heat shield???) of some sort that wraps around the bulb was bent down in both fog light housings. I had to take a screwdriver and bend them straight. The wiring harness from the fogs do not even come close to connecting to the Honda connector. Not enough length on the Honda wire to try and put on a different one that matches. Went to Honda and paid for new wiring harnesses (2 of them) so that they would mate up properly. I didn't feel like ripping the windshield washer jug out in order to reach the Honda connector and try and replace the end. On to the inside of the car: I got the "weird" later style wiring harness that was giving many people a lot of troubles trying to figure out where each end went where, this part went very quickly for me. The 4-pin grey connector fit into the 6 pin socket on the upper-left side of the fuse box, however it does not lock into place so it can slide out easily. I discovered while testing with my Fluke that the pin on the socket on the fuse panel everyone said to use was the wrong one on my car, but I easily discovered the right one. Ended up removing the pin from the connector housing on the harness and insulating it with a bit of heatshrink material and sticking it on the pin which it grips tightly. I just got back home tonight after doing an initial alignment out on one of the backroads near me. The light coverage was disappointing at best, the lowbeams gave better results. I even aimed them high and they just don't cast out. I suspect the shield around the bulb inside each fog housing may have something to to do with it. Upon closer examination it appears as if the shield blocks the filament preventing it from sending all the light energy into the reflectors at the back of the fog housing. I've had a $40 set of rectangular halogen fogs of similar size and height on an old '71 Datsun 240Z and they gave awesome light... these do not even come close. ------------- However on the plus side, they look really cool! And if I were to offer any advice, I would say to get the Add-A-Circuit device from Littlefuse. I found no need to pull any panels off the inside of the car to get access to the car's wiring bus, nor have to pull the power from the battery, or scrape wires and do some soldering. Neat and safe professional appearance. [quote=xtv-sidecar;2173084]I got mine from k2motor and they were just fine. My boss got a set to and no problems. QUOTE] |
