Question Sliver Star light bulbs vs. Xenon light bulbs

I don't know which one to get. Everyone talks about the sliver stars, but I don't know anything about them. I have always heard about Xenon HIDs and light bulbs. Which would you guys recommend? I want something that is street legal and yet still has that blueish tint to it.

Silverstar's are more white than blue. I have 9005 and 9006 on my 300ZX. The highs are really bright and have a pinkish tint to them (yes sounds weird but looks cool/good output).

On my Si I have PIAA Super Plasma GT-X. I saw someone on here say he had them and they looked really blue to me so I figured PIAA is a good brand and they will look cool. Well apparently he doesn't have the GT-X's cuz mine are pure white. Nice none the less but I coulda saved about $60bucks and gotten silverstars...The PIAA's are more white than Silverstars but if you want bluish, you can try out the silverstars. I can post some pics when I get home of my ZX bulbs.

Hybrid Customs, your question of Silverstar's or Xenon HID's is like asking if someone should buy a Civic or a BMW M3. The answer depends on how much money you are willing to spend.

The cheapest and quickest way to get improved lighting is to buy replacement bulbs, such as Silverstars or PIAA's. I personally recommend PIAA's, but Silverstars are also a good bulb at the price. PIAA's cost about $50-70 per set. I'm not exactly sure how much Silverstars cost, but I'm pretty sure they are about half the price of PIAA's. Keep in mind, the bluer your light is, the worse your visibility will be in rainy weather. Blue/purple light doesn't illuminate well in the rain.

Xenon HID's will greatly improve your visibility at night and in all weather conditions. Getting a blue or purplish HID will still give you great lighting in rainy weather (I have 12K purple HID's on my Civic). Xenon HID's generally have about 2-3 times the lumen output of a halogen bulb. The thing to keep in mind is to stay away from eBay cheap generic kits. Cheap kits often don't last long, and aren't much brighter than halogens. XenonDepot who sponsors this thread sells great quality kits. My personal favorite is the McCulloch Kit which can be ordered from www.xenonpros.com (if you order from them, call in the order, and tell them you want the eBay price which is about $100 less than the website) A Xenon HID kit will cost about $275-400 for good quality. The install of a Xenon HID kit is not super difficult, but if you're not comfortable doing it yourself, you can get a local tuner or car stereo shop to install them for about $50-80.

Sorry I should have made it more clear that I was thinking about the halogen bulbs by Xenon, not the HID. HIDs are way to much. So far I may get the PIAAs. To clearify better I want super whites that always have that hint of blue or purple. Thanks guys

If you want any tint of blue, then just try out silverstars. Hell, you can get just one bulb if you want to see how it is. $20 for one or you can get twin packs for like $38.** from walmart.

My PIAA's are just white. THe highs are really bright but my lows arent that bright. I am kinda disappointed considering the price I paid..but they are nice though.

if i'm taking my bumpers off, I'd go with the HID's

but if you have girly hands, it may be easier to change light bulbs

^ From what I've heard, the DRLs emit such a low wattage of energy to the bulbs that they still look yellow-OEM color even with silver stars.

This is true, I've got silverstars in my car, and they are yellow until you give them full power (ie turn your lights on).

PIAA's have less yellow than Silverstars in your DRL's.

You can also buy generic "hyper white" bulbs (bulbs that are bluish or purplish) and these lights will have less yellow than Silverstars. Silverstars work well under full power, but suck on the DRL's.
