HIDs and Aiming the Light?

I hope this hasn't been covered yet... if it has my bad

Anyway, so the headlights for our civs have adjustable aim by turning something underneath the headlight? Will this fix problems of blinding people in oncoming traffic if you install aftermarket HIDs?

there are two crown gears per headlight to adjust up/down and left/right. Look around the headlight area under the hood and you will find the locations. You will need a long philips to adjust them

I have not been able to find the crown screw that allows me to adjust left/right.
I had the front bumper off 3 times now and every time I had it off I looked around for any adjustment point but still nothing. Am I not seeing it?

Up and down is the easy one to find.

There are practical ways for aiming headlights rather than the middle finger approach.

One word, nope. Any aftermarket HID put inside stock halogen housing will cause glare unless of course you aim it down so much that you can't see anything at all. Anything in range of stock position will glare oncoming traffic.

Please don't do that... I do lot of nighttime driving now days and my eyes are tired as hell due to people with aftermarket HIDs and poorly aimed headlight. If you combine it both.. I might as well just swerve into you or something

I'm just playing, but seriuosly take another approach. Parking your car about 25ft froma wall on leveled ground Your cut-off point (if you still got any... it's not the glare that HID makes..) should be about 4" below level of your headlight. Basically measure ground->headlight - 4" = ground to your cut-off at 25ft.

I will be using this guide to help in aiming mine when my retro is done. I opted for the reflectors though. Can't see HID being of much value in the halogen housing.

I think you meant to say projectors.

In a lowered car, it could be possible to aim the lights so that your light is straight across or only slightly lower at 25 feet. This will give you some viewing distance and it won't be offensive to the eyes of oncoming traffic.

So what you are saying is if your car is lowered and you use HID in the factory housing you shouldn't blind any one?

Well you'll still be blinding other lowered cars, if that's what he meant.

Pop open your hood and you will see a hole on top of each headlight on the black plastic cover that's over the radiator. You will see next to the hole a directional arrow with U for up and D for down. You can either use a long screwdriver to adjust your headlights up and down or some have said you can also use a socket wrench on the side of it.
