Daytime Running Lights

I dunno if I am crazy but I am considering getting some of those fake blue HID lights for my daytime running lights. Is this retarded? How long do those bulbs last? Has anyone else done this? pics?

if you're talking like silverstars. .. you're not crazy. But I have to tell you that I did mine and the light output is STILL yellow because of the low power that goes to the bulbs. They do get way brighter at night though when they get full power to em.

yea probably, the DRLs are just highbeams on something like half power so everything you put in there pretty much will look yellow as a DRL.

I was disapointed when I turned on the DRLs and they were still yellow, but they look a lil better than regular factory ones though. Oh well, I like my DRLs, wish they were whiter, but they're still cool. If they were whiter, then they would use more power, then they would burn out quicker.

i dunno i kinda like the drl's. imo if you turn on your headlights half way (the drl's still on, but the turn signals are illuminated)then it looks pretty pimped out.

yeah, i just changed out the bulbs. the 03-05 350Z's have reflector housing, rather than true projectors. but we installed a similar HID kit on my friend's 03 civic ex, same temp bulbs and everything... looks nice

I had Hid's on my old accord. IMHO I don't want to deal with them unless I can get projectors. This is def something I am going to consider but after all said and done with projecters it is quite expensive

Don't do HID unless you're willing to go with projectors... HID bulbs in the stock reflector housing looks like ass and it pisses everybody off.
Projectors are made for HID, so it gives fantastic dispersion and a great cutoff. I did a HID projector retrofit on my Civic and the difference is unbelievable. And I've only been flashed once

They dont look like ass in ALL cars, and they dont piss EVERYBODY off. I have hids in my car and they look great, and i have never been flashed or "pissed" anyone off.

I dunno... it just seems to me that if you're going to spend the money on xenon bulbs and ballasts, why not go the whole nine yards and do projectors too?
Xenons and projectors are made for each other, so why not keep them together?

you guys are wrong, if you buy the fake HID blue bulbs for DRLS they will in fact still look blue. I used to have them in my 2001 monte carlo..

Odd. The DRLs on the civics are just underpowering the high beams, and my "fake blue" silverstars are decidedly yellow when not being used as high beams.

What type of bulb did you use?
