Retro fit Headlights

Hey guys I'm new to the forum and I'm looking into buying my Si by the late summer into the fall...I know there is not tons of mods out there for the Si yet, but I'm wondering has anyone tried a retro fit on the headlights yet?

Take a look at this accord forum....you will see that tons of people doing to their accords

Really the only hard part is find projectors that fit the 'lamps and positioning them in from what I can tell. I haven't done a retrofit before but from what everyone says, the mounting and right size projectors are the hard part.

Does anyone know if any company is planning on making retro style lights and maybe some LED tailights?

The difficulty in retrofitting bi-xenon projectors is that they are a much larger projector. Unless you do some major modification, it would be a very VERY tight fit if at all. The 2006 Civic headlight is much smaller than previous generations, and so my guess is that only a BMW bi-xenon projector would fit. TL would be too big. That's why i went with the TSX projector in the retrofit you linked to. It still retains the halogen highs if they're ever needed. The nice thing about HID is that the light output is so much greater than halogens that needing-highbeams can be a rare occurrence.

Retrofitting a projector into the high beam is an option, but it's not how most people do bi-xenon. Xenon for the high beam isn't recommended unless it's done through the shield flipping up on the projector (read: extra wiring and extra solenoids), because HID hardware doesn't respond well to flashing or spontaneous useage. It takes time to "warm up" to maximum brightness. Plus, you would lose the DRL.

Tim,

I would have to agree the TSX or BMW projectors from a 3 series might work....I would really like to see someone try and pull this off......I have seen a lot of guys on the accord forums pull it off on their 7th generations Accords.....I just love the look of the bi-xenon

High beam HID's on a vehicle that don't come from the factory that way are a waste of money...period. You won't use them nearly as often with HID's in the low-beam anyway. Plus, space is very tight and very limited underneath the hood in the headlight areas. If you can figure out how to mount 4 ballasts without having to reroute something, I'll personally fly out to see you with an ice cream cake and shake your hand.

I used the TSX projectors. I think most of us that have done the retrofit have used the TSX projectors. I was looking for the S2K's but quickly gave up that search once I saw how much they were going for. I got mine on ebay for $100.

i thought it was actually not good to have high beam hids, cuz most people would have to switch them on and off alot which isnt good for the bulb.

That is correct. That's why it's not a good idea to use a dedicated HID high-beam. Any car that comes equipped with OEM bi-xenon has a projector with a shield apparatus that flips up when you turn on the highs, allowing more light to escape out the lens.

Have any pictures of your retro? Are you done or is yours a work in progress?

I haven't taken any pictures yet, but that's to keep myself from posting them. I'm going to post everything at the end of the month, after most of what I'm doing is done. Or at least half of it anyway. :) But I'll get them up soon. I just need to do something else on the front end.

Oh, Cam, I had a little problem with UPS. They delivered that thing to the wrong damn state. Went to NY. I was PISSED when I found out. I'm buying my parts from Hondapartsdeals.com or collegehillshonda.com from now on.

Skittles... unless you're a hot woman, that's really not an image that I want to have in my head.
