Halo projector kit with HID bulbs ?

Hi all,

Has anybody tried to use the aftermarket Halo projector kit found on ebay with HID bulb put in ? I asked the vendor and they said they don't recommend their customers to use HID with their system but if you really want, do not use higher than 4300 bulb.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=300107856580

Are there any pros and cons with this approach understand that I still need to mount the ballast somewhere like other DIY HID kit requires. Any safty or reliability concerns ? Thanks.

Its possible but you wont get that sharp cut off from these halogen projectors.

Ryan,

I thought the idea is to smooth out the light cutoff and avoid hotspot for HID DIYers ? Do you meaning that it won't be as bright as the retrofitting approach ? Can you be more specific on the pros and cons for using them ? Any safety can relibility concerns ? Thanks again..

-You WILL get hotspots regardless.
-Your cutoff line will be sharp
-Your setup will be more effective than a pnp kit in the stock reflector.
-If you're lucky with those projectors they will or will not handle hid's properly.

The cutoff will NOT look like this from that halogen projector:

But it can be as bright.

Hi Inyoung1988, I cannot find your old thread regarding Holo Projector with HID bulb ? Are you now using Holo Projector with HID 8000k bulbs which your picture shows the result ? or you are just using the std HID 8000K kit with the original OEM headlight on your Civic?

Rayan, I am still not quite clear on the second pictures from you that it has a center circle in the middle of the light projection. Is it a pict for your Holo projector with HID bulbs installed ? or it is just the standard Hologen projector without HID bulbs ? You said it can be as bright. Are you referring to the HIR bulbs replacement on the Hologen projector ?

Thanks again ! (Sorry guys.. I am pretty green on these !)

Inyoung1988,
Thanks for this picture. It looks nice.. Any difference in procedure of the DIY in putting the HID kit ? Do you need to adjust the aimming angle, direction of the projectors for maximum effect ? Have you had any flashes from vehicle from the opposite direction with your setup? I am wondering why the vendor suggest no higher than 4300k should be used. I guess your projector housing also comes with 3 LEDs too right ?

BTW, I see the Callipers of your SI are RED. Did you have them painted or a complete aftermarket replacement ? If you painted it, what paint did you use and where can I buy it ? Thanks again.

I woudln't really recommend this halos.
1. they have horrible cut off and very painful to get a best aim.
2. it doesn really fit well with the front bumper. (gap)
3. hate the purple projector

and for calipers,,,yes i painted them just like other people. I used dupli color (RED) it took me around 30 mins to finish. Thanks.

Inyoung1988, you have it setup quite nicely. The cut off looks perfect to me with aftermarket HID Kit. If I going to use this projector lights, will you be able to share some hints (what do and what not to do) on settting it up ? I am planning to use it with HID 6000K kit. BTW, do you still have your high beam in Holgen if I do the 6000K kit ? How does it work if I switching between high an low beam ?

Many thanks in advance..

like I said before, I don't think I recommend this kit. esp. with chrome halos. well, you will get the same high beam as oem ones. it works everything same as stock one but low beams. the H1 hid bulbs won't fit on these projectors. you might have to shave them off to fit in. that was the hardest about this result. well, if you have further questions, let me know!
