HID retro questions

Hey guys, getting ready to start my HID retro soon after putting much thought into it, and decided to go with the TSX projectors but as for lighting I'm still up in the air the OEM 4300k look nice but I LOVE the look of 8kvtec's 5000k.

My experience in the past with HIDs were plug and play kits so using OEM stuff I’m a bit confused, and what I see on hidplanet and Ebay only raise more questions for me. For me to make this work I need a pair of ballasts and bulbs for sure. What I question are these "adapters" I see floating around on Ebay in addition to igniters. Are these adapters needed with the igniters with OEM equipment. If so how does it all connect together, as I mentioned earlier my past uses with HID were all PnP and I haven’t seen/used a HID kit in almost a year so I’m very fuzzy with this stuff atm.

My plan was to get some Phillips bulbs and denso ballasts, but these adapters and igniters with OEM equipment are throwing me off. Any answers would be great

I was in the same boat as you, I had a PnP kit from xenondepot. I went retro, so I had to get an adapter to plug from the ballast in the projector. The bulbs that go into the projector are D2S. Your going to need a 9006 to D2S adapter. Since Caveman did my retro, he E-mailed me a link to the adapter. Make sure you get the right one. I lost the link and ended up getting what I thought was the right connector but it wasnt for a 9006 PnP kit. No big deal just had to cut some wires and do some sodering.

You can adapters like these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/D2R-D...83020488QQrdZ1 Not sure if this is the exact one you need, Mine looked like that but it was wrong connectors. Or you can just get D2S ballasts. I think that would be easier

So you were able to use the ballast/igniters from your PnP kit...you just needed the 9006->Ds2 adapter? That seems easy enough.

Yeah the ballast and igniters I had from my PnP kit worked just fine. Just got the adapters. so they would plug into the projectors.
