How to retro tsx projectors into Angel Eyes Style Headlights
I decided that I like the way the angel eyes headlights on ebay but I saw the output from the cheap projectors and realized that I needed to put some decent projectors. I also decided to paint the nasty looking chrome housings flat black. I figured I should post this incase anyone else wanted to do this.
Before ![]() The tools you should need. Dremel Heat gun (optional) Philips screwdriver Needle nose pliers 7mm wrench Belt sander Materials Used Tsx projectors #8 bolts with Philips head 1-1/4” long #8 washers #8 locknuts 6 pieces of small diameter copper tubing for spacers. Roughly ½” long First of all I removed all the outside hardware screws, rubber plugs and the original bulbs. I baked the head lights for about 3.5 to 4 min at 250 degrees. I just kept checking on them until they were hot enough for me to break apart. Once the headlights are apart you can remove every thing except for the bright lights reflector shield. Once you remove the bracket that holds the projector then take the dremel and start widening the hole to accommodate the tsx projector. ![]() ![]() The two bottom holes in the tsx projector will line up with the two bottom holes in the bracket. You have to drill the inside top hole for your 3rd mounting location. The tsx projector is a little big so you do have to sand down the top outside ear on each side. ![]() I then mounted the projectors to the brackets using the hardware that I describe above. Here are some pictures of how I rigged the spacers. I shimmed the projectors away from the bracket because I fitted the headlights together and the projector was sitting about ½” back from the shroud and looked kind of nasty you can use your on judgment on the spacing this ½” worked for me. ![]() ![]() ![]() Painting I decided to paint the halos because I don’t like them but I kept the light bar and the leds on the top. Here are some pictures of them being painted. ![]() ![]() After everything has dried I reassembled the lights and used the heat gun to melt the glue and put them back together. This project was not all that difficult to do and the results are great you just have to take your time. Enjoy!

YOu rock!! I posted a thread a few days ago, A Projector Compromise?? asking if this had been done before. I'm thrilled to find out that someone has tried it. Good choice on the projector setup. It looks much cleaner than the other model commonly found online.
