Sylvania Silver Star bulbs any good?

I don't want to install HID's in my car, but I was wondering if you guys could recommend bulbs that are at least better than most.

I'm looking at the Sylvania Silverstar bulbs that you can buy at Canadian Tire, I don't want those cheapo's that will break in a couple of months.

there are actually two brands that call themselves silver stars.
The ones that have the blue tint arent as good as the ones that have clear glass.

the other possibly better option is HIR bulbs, do a search and you should find a couple threads discussing those including a recent one with picture comparisons

Get a pair of the HIR bulbs for the low beams. I've used them and the Silverstars, but the HIR bulbs put out much more light.

Do a search on this site for "HIR".

You can get them here http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TOSHI...spagenameZWDVW

or you can go to your local John Deere retailer and ask for part number AH211917.

Silverstars from Sylvania don't last much more than a few months because they've designed them for increased output at the expense of longevity (nevermind the fact they are coated, cutting output). I have no idea if the Osram Silverstars have the same issues, but at least they don't reduce output with some crappy coating to fool everyone into thinking they are HIDs.

I just jumped on the HIR bandwagon. I hope they are truly what they have been made out to be.
I had silverstar lowbeams, and the bulbs burnt out pretty quick. I wouldn't waste your time with them if I were you.

Check this thread out:

A good read about silverstars

Please also try the search next time.. that thread was on the first page of results for "silverstar".
