McCulloch HID Kit

Hey fellow 8th geners. Just purchased a 6000K HID kit from Hidexpert.com. It is a McCulloch kit and should be installed sometime next week. I will post pics. of the finished product when I am able.

I think some members might have this kit on their cars, if so, how do you like the product? Any problems to report of?

Just wanted to share with everyone my new purchase and future mod. to my Habi!!

I have the 6000K McCulloch kit on my Galant. I am on my 2nd set of bulbs in a year and one of the bulbs has already blown. Good luck with your McCulloch kit. I even had the harness replaced with no luck. Keep in mind I had the H4 bulbs for my Mitsubishi. I had the old first gen bulbs and the newer gen bulbs. The color looks good when they are working though.

I had a mcculloch kit in my Dakota for 2 years, no problems except that I accidently shorted out a balast when I decided to rewire it. They wouldn't replace it and I had to buy another one. Right now the balasts and 8000k 9007 bulbs are sitting in my room. Everything works except the replacement balast I had bought was used and that one crapped out too.

I have the exact 6000k kit in my Habenaro Si. What a coincidence.
No problems what so ever, except it flicked for a day when I just installed it, but then went away.

How you doing Sprecher. My name is Marc and I am new to the forum. I just bought an 07 Coupe SI, silver color. I have a McCuloch HID pnp kit 9006 and 4300 color that I took out of my Toyota Landcruiser. I would like to install these lights on my new coupe, but have some reservations about the kit causing electrical problems. Is there any history of any HID pnp kit causing electrical problems with cars. I also read another thread about the McCulloch kit, and the members were talking about connecting to the battery, or grounding the wire. This is all foreign to me. When I installed the kit on my LC it was very easy plug n play. I assume it's the same for the SI?? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hey Marc. I don't foresee any issues that would come up if you were to install that kit. It's the correct bulb size. Others may of had electrical problems, but I've had none to speak of. However the bulbs flicker when I turn them on, then their on at full brightness. I don't know if thats standard or not. So install those bad boys.

well i just finished installing my McCulloch HID pnp kit. It was pretty cut and dry, just the passenger side was tough. I need to redo the driver side because I don't like having the ballast velcro'ed in such a visible location when the hood is opened it's very visible, and i am worried when I take the car in for service they will void my warranty. So I plan to redo the driver side and hide the ballast in the same location that I hid the passenger side one, behind the wheel well cover where it can't be seen. ran out of time for now and have to do another time. Both lights turned on with no problem, so for now all is good. I have to ask a question, and if i asked already, very sorry!!! I noticed in other threads where members have installed the HID kits, and they mention connecting a ground wire to the car frame, and connecting wires to the batteries. I am guessing this is additional protection??? or are these not PNP kits? Marc

Yes, I have this on my PnP kit. It's to properly ground the connection. You want to connect it to the chassis of the car or the negative terminal of the battery. I use a relay kit and it makes things really easy.

okay thanks. My PNP kit did not come with anything like this to connect to the chasis for "ground". Mine was all pretty basic plug and play and that's it. Am I risking anything by not having this additional part.
