Are you sure they dont melt like the Lamin-X? If the coupe fogs are the same size as the sedans, i'll probably just buy the coupe's films

Is it rocks that cause the fog lights to break?

more often than not, it's a mix of different things that cause the lens to break.....say the lens gets super heated from the bulbs, heated glass=brittle glass=glass more likely to be proned to rock chipping and breaking....

Who???

I got the pre-cut for previous car and it doesn't fit. I bought bulk film and cut it myself. I used left over for this car, civic. I have experienced with this film for more than 3 years and my fog is on whenever the car is running. No burrning and I hope I am not the lucky one.

i had 2 cracked fog lights within the first few months of owning my si.. but i also see why they use glass. i cut out some lexan and fit it in place, but they get burned from the heat of the fog lights... seems i can't keep them on longer than thirty min at a time w/out them browning and warping the lexan (same problem as the lamin-x covers.. they will burn too.)

Does anyone know if that stuff that they put on helicopters wings, or for peoples iPhones or iPods will work for our fog lights. Its that stuff that is thin, but extremely strong. Just a thought.

Also from now reading all 6 pages of this, the final conclusion to fixing your fog lights is to, buy Lexan from Home Depot or Lowes, Cut it to shape, and then install it where your previous lens was. BUT to save the Lexan from burning or bubbling is to get HID's or some kind of lower heat bulbs...

What do other cars use for their fog lights? Glass? Polycarbonate like Lexan with bulbs that aren't as hot?

I bought some eBay fogs, put 3 coats of yellow stained glass paint on and 3 coats of high heat clear coat on, so we'll see how well they hold up when I install them. They look damn good, though.

I installed the HID kit when I bought the fog lights. Then a rock broke the driver's side glass lens on the fog light. Found the DIY and used the Lowe's Lexan and the Black ATV silicone. Worked great. Since the passenger's side was untouched I left it alone. My wife suggested I should change it while I had the bumper off, but it's a $90.00 part and I did not want to risk anymore OEM points. Put the bumper back on and I couldn't tell the difference between Lexan and glass. Drove it to work and I heard the sound of glass breaking. Sure enough, passenger fog light broken. What are the odds of that happening? Anyways, it looks good at the initial install. I hope it holds up over time and doesn't get scratchy and hazy like I've seen with other lexan replacements for windows.

09 Fogs are different

I just fixed one of my fog lights on my new-to-me 09 sedan with the clear Lowes lexan....

After going through the pain of removing the bumper and breaking a few retaining clips, I found out that the 09 fogs come out the front, so you dont have to take the bumper off!

I have some heavy-duty tin snips that cut the rough shape of the lens. I then traced the pattern on the lens using the housing and then used a belt sander to get it to the tracing line. The foglight housing bracket covers up the outside edge, so this dosen't have to be perfect.

Due to the curve of the opening, and lack of a retaining ring to hold the lens against the housing while the glue sets ( I saw the 06-08s had such a retainer) I had to heat up and bend the plastic lens or I expect it wouldn't stay on. I left the plastic protective sheets on both sides and heated up the "inside" with a heat gun until the protective sheet started to curl on the edges - the lexan can take a lot more heat than the protective sheet. I was then able to bend the plastic using gloves, with a little more force than I expected, to match the curvature of the housing.

I ran to Autozone to get the $8 tube of sealant recommended. I made sure to sand about 1/4" of the lens perimeter to get good adhesion. The housing glue-channel was also cleaned out with sand paper and wiped with alcohol.

I let the thick bead of adhesive cure for over a day before I remounted it and the bumper. So far so good, but it's only been a couple days so far. If it does melt, I'll try a cooler bulb. At least I know how easy it is to replace the lens now.

Thats Mr.Bart to you!
Did anyone here ever buy those ones that I sell? I haven't had one bad review yet. No burning and no cracking. There are like 20-30 ppl running them now.
