Quite a few people with the lexan lenses have had the lexan bubble after 3-4 months. I have xenon bulbs in the fogs and strangely my lexan lenses are fine. Lower temperatures I guess....

Yeah, I'm not sure why halogen bulbs do it, but HIDs don't. It's either the temperature difference (but it's only 5-10 °F difference) or less UV off the HIDs.

I did the lexan thing too...mine haven't "melted" so to speak at least not fully...but if you run your finger directly in front of the where the bulb is you can feel some deformation even though you can't really see it. I think those that are not experiencing this problem have done one of two things...one they removed the guard around the bulb (I think it concentrates the heat to come out forward and out the back so it creates a hot-spot on the lexan directly in front of the bulb. The other thing is there is some kind of vent built into the glass ones...keeps the front somewhat sealed but leaves heat escape (wish I had pic'd this before I destroyed my good lens) so we might be trapping more heat inside than was OEM. In any event...it's not that hard to do so if I have to do it again...I will...but I will be doing a projector retro if I'm going to spend the time doing it again.

Ideas for those that plan to do this mod...watch for the "vent" in the top portion of the glass on the OEM glass lens and mimic that on the lexan and/or take out the black guard around the bulb. I think this will alleviate the issue. Not sure about the light pattern but I think this will help any melting.

"HID light contains less infrared and ultraviolet light, which fatigues the driver and surrounding motorists." (intellexual net · m k i v)

I think that may be an answer as to why HID fogs don't melt the lexan lenses.

i did this a couple of days ago and just put them back on yesterday and they are melting/bubbling already... still have the stock bulbs in... now i gotta take them out again and me and my friend are gonna figure something out.. one thing we are thinking of is using glass again... on my ej1 fogs the glass was kinda thick.. my friend said that if he domes the front of the lens and its flat toward the light it wont break as easily, it'll just leave little chips.. thats how it was on my ej1..

FYI, the glass on the 09 fogs is different... it seems to be thicker, so I think Honda may have actually addressed this issue.

No, they're not out quite yet, but I work for Honda.

I wasn't suggesting that you change yours out, since it would be expensive, as you said. That was just as an FYI :)
