Bad news. Toshiba no longer makes HIR bulbs as of April 2009, so all that are around are all there are.

However, word has it that Phillips is starting production sometime next year.

Hi guys,

It's been a while and I just started to hear about this HIR bulbs. I was wondering if you guys knew if these bulbs will work on a civic SI 2007 model because I checked the book and online and it said my car uses 51W bulbs...does anyone know if using this HIR (AH211917) works from John Deere?

If it's a nice alternative to getting HIDs, I would like to order these HIR soon if I can get confirmation it will not harm my car wires/housing/mounts etc.

thanks!

Not an issue. Order soon, b/c they stopped making these in April and no replacement will be out until, maybe, late next year.

Hello I'm new here and I have a few questions about these HIR Bulbs. First, I have not seen anybody confirm that these bulbs that can be had at the John Deere dealers are the Toshiba branded bulbs or not. Has this been confirmed as my John Deere dealer in my area can still get them? Also, will these work in the previous body style civic (2005). I realize the 9012 style will fit the 9006, but my concern is with the headlamp itself. Below is a picture of the headlamp. If you notice there is what appears to be a reflective cover over the low beam bulb. Will this impair the HIR bulbs performance? Thanks for any help.

Sorry for the crummy pic. (Cell Phone)

it should fit - they are not longer than a regular bulb, just wider.

Toshiba has been the only manufacturer for quite some time. Phillips should be gearing up to make the new HIR bulbs, which won't have the purplish looking coating anymore and will use a better filament design to achieve output.

One more question. Is AH211917 the right John Deere part number for the 9012's (9006)? Can't seem to find if this is a 9012 or 9011.

I don't know offhand, but I seem to recall that JD only has the 9012s. Googling "JD" and "HIR" should give you the answer.

Finally got the HIR's in and installed. In the midst of installing the lights I didn't realize that the there is a removable cap on the back of these bulbs. One of the caps on the back of the light popped off and fell into la la land where I can't even find it now. Will this hurt anything if the cap is never found and just left off. It appears behind the cap there is some kind of silicone sealant so it would seem everything should still be water tight. Will this reduce the life of the bulb?

p.s. Just looking for some reassurance....
